NBA game played outside: good or bad idea?

In light of seeing these NHL games played in outdoor stadiums, I began to wonder why doesn't the NBA try this sometime. That's an event I would pay to watch. Is this a stupid idea? Has it been done before that I never heard about.

Not NBA, but the NCAA has played a couple of games on aircraft carriers.
However, the court is so small, like NHL, everyone would be so far from the action.

I think it would be cool.

Only would be sort of cool if it was played at Rucker Park or something like that. Regulation goals and court would just be stupid.

And they had to cancel two games last season because of condensation....

The players wouldn't go for it. Stats are a part of how they get paid. A reason why guards don't like taking 3/4 quarter length shots.

And they've been screwed up a couple of times because of rain and condensation. The NBA would never do it because they'd lose the ticket revenue.

College has done it before on those naval ships or whatever it was.

Basketball isn't like football. You shouldn't have to worry about rain, condensation, adjusting your jump shot for wind, etc.

Wesley Sinpes explained why this would be a bad idea in White Men Can't Jump.

It's happened before.
The lakers played someone in a tennis stadium

I don't like the idea, but I would like some NBA teams to play the occasional neutral site game like they do during the preseason to help grow the brand.

What about the wind? Players and coaches wouldn't like it

Need to play in the snow and ice like real men.

I thought it would be pretty cool to have it once a year in the NBA. Put it at the Artur Ashe Stadium in New York City. It has around 22,000 seats. Would be perfect.

Maybe it wouldnt work for a real game, but maybe just an exhibition game like the preseason or possibly even all-star game. I seriously doubt it would ever happen. But its always been my dream to watch an NBA game played street style. How cool would it be to see Lebron facing up Durant at the top of the key on the blacktop with rain pouring down. No? Its a stupid idea? Ok fine next time I'll just keep my fantasies to myself

Basketball on a slightly slick surface is a god damn nightmare
