:prepares soapbox:
Maybe not 113K a year, but that is my grand sociological idea to re-establish the core of American values. Get rid of all of the current "social programs", and cap it at 1 child or 25 kids, the pay is the same.
Pay moms or dads to stay home and raise their children instead of having them away from the home unit to earn money instead.
Think about the decline in morals and standards over the last 40 years, how much of it is tied into single family homes where the kids raise themselves or fight it out in the streets. Not saying it would solve all of the countries problems, but I think it would go a long way towards adding some stability back in peoples lives. Of course it could be a complete failure, but I think would make a hell of a paper of exercise.

And now that I read most of these responses I realize you all must be 18-22 year old guys who have no kids or sisters with kids.
It's a hell of a lot harder than you can imagine, 1-2 days at home isn't the same thing as 24/7 for 365.
Can't wait until you get married and have some children running around, ask you wife if she LOVES staying at home.
:puts soapbox back up:

I've done both. After a few years at home, I was bored to death. I enjoy my job and missed it. The housework just isn't that satisfying to me. It's a thankless job.

What? I was raised in a single parent household, and both my parents have worked my entire life. Yet my sister and I didn't raise ourselves or fight it out in the streets.
Paying parents to stay home with their kids in lieu of other social programs isn't going to solve any problems. Parents can work and still be involved parents, and staying home all day doesn't make someone an involved parent.

This is the dumbest thing I've read today, and TD has a lot of dumb shite on it. American values? Wtf are those? 50's white middle class suburban humdrum?

You REALLY think that if we paid moms to stay home their kids would grow up to be better citizens? Do you know how stupid that is? We already do that for black women and over half of their kids end up in jail. Come on bro!
