Yeah it is close. I am going to the give the defensive player the benefit of the doubt because welker was clearly running a pick. FWIW, I have been a Welker fan since his Tech days and I am no pats fans.
Yeh it def was intended to be a pick play, but it just so happens that Welker doesnt make contact until the ball hits the receivers hands. So its hard to really call PI on it

It'll be interesting to see if the competition committee starts paying attention to these pick plays, though Belichick has used them to great effect in his career too

Theyll have a busy offseason between this and the Bowman INT fiasco

its pretty damn close and he 100% went all in for the hit before the ball is close. Defenders are called for way less.

That was such a joke. The no review rule is one thing, but the fact that no ref saw bowman lying with the ball live is crazy. Add that to the fact they said the Seattle guy caught it and had possession too. That was one of the worse overall calls i have ever seen

I have seen a ton of high schools that run this same exact play. No big deal

I agree that the NFL needs to think of rules to allow defenses to be competitive. Hell, for whatever reason they allow Seattle to play with a different set of rules and you see how much better it makes a defense

Yep. They put Bowman in danger by not realizing he was hurt and down with control of the ball. Tey let a scrum happen on top of a player with a knee split in half

That whole play had my blood boiling. I swear my pulse went from 60 to 150 as soon as the refs explained that shite.

i think they will do something about it just because the rule is so dumb but i wouldn't be shocked if they don't for 2 reason

1. they play ended up not mattering and will be largely forgettable

2. bowman doesn't play a "skill" position

I hate it when things like this are said.

I am trying to decrease the amount of time I spend arguing with the ignorant, and trying so hard not to be an a-hole.

That being said, that is singlehandedly one of the dumbest arguments I have ever seen in my entire life.

Its a similar type mesh play. The big difference is collie had caught the ball much earlier in the play before Edelman hit Cromartie. It was a block to aid the runner. In Welkers instance he was going to pick/hit Talib whether Thomas got the ball or not.
Looking at both they were both legal. Welker's hit was only legal by a fraction of a second. He was gunning for Talib whether he meant to hurt or not who knows.

It's only a matter of time till defenses start laying out Bronco receivers. Manning engineers an entire passing game based off of pick plays. If the league continues to allow it, then his receivers will eventually pay the price.

Bill complaining about a "rub' or 'pick' play is incredible, the Pats live on this tactic. It really makes him seem like a monumental pussy.

If deliberate means he was trying to lay a block on Talib while at the same thinking the WR caught the ball, then yes it is deliberate
