my guess is Alex Bregman if he ever learns to hit

The correct answer is Arby Fields

Bregman is the 3rd string catcher, right? If Moore and Chinea suck, OP may be onto something

Are you asking if LSU has a better defensive SS than Bregman? I don't know the answer if that's the question. The thing I noticed about Bregman is he's excellent going to his right or his left to make a play. Its the balls hit directly at him that seem to cause problems.
That can be overcome and I think he will be fine at SS.

Kade Scivicque is probably the backup C

This must be that "buzz" that Bregman is hearing around town.

I'd say he was more than fine last year defensively, outside of a couple of glaring instances (CWS error). He's a guy that will outwork literally everyone on the team to improve his perceived weaknesses, so I'm not worried about him at all.

In all honesty, I have heard (probably mostly from this board) that Bregman may get a strong look at catcher if no one else steps up.
All that being said, IF we need someone else to fill the SS role for any reason, who are we looking at as backups? I think Ibarra was a former SS and might even have put in a few innings there last year if i remember, but that may cause too much infield shuffling. I am not terribly familiar with any of the new guys coming in.

Your opening night catcher will be Tyler Moore. And he'll do nothing to lose his job.

I thought the Bregman to catcher talk was MLB.
