quote:see, this is the info I was looking for. I know there's two seats on the barrel.
There is a seat for the spring on a Glock and there is another ridge slightly above the seat. The spring will sit on the 2nd seat and the weapon will still fire but it will not cycle rounds correctly.
So is it supposed to sit on the one closest to the barrel?

Yes. You will be able to tell when the spring is loaded correctly as it is not supposed to sit on the second ledge. It is easy to make this mistake when cleaning and reassembling quickly. I did it once and could not figure out what in the hell was wrong. I even took the pistol apart at the range and didn't notice the spring. When I got home to clean I realized what was wrong so I went back to the range after seating the spring correctly and it cycled like a champ.

I'm pretty damn sure it is seated on the ledge right up against the barrel but will surely go check again.

I did that once before on my G20. What is the purpose of that second spot?

It is just the way the barrel is designed. I wish they would fill in that ridge so that this could not happen.

I think everyone is subject to this error. I have shot 10s of thousands of rounds through Glocks and I think the more you shoot the more you are likely to experience this malfunction. Once it happens to you and you are aware of it it probably won't happen to you again.

No - that's Sigs and it is "almost" never fail ever.

Glocks have drawbacks such as the second ridge where the spring sits and all striker fired pistols may have difficulty with very hard primers. Outside of those issues, both can be avoided if one is aware, I will take a Glock over almost any other pistol any day.

I'll meet you at Precision, if you like, and check it out//test it.
I have personally fired at least 150,000 rounds through Glock 19's You've had more than twice as many jams as I've had.
p.s. Irrespective of what you decide to do, there are no reliable after-market Glock mags (unless you're referring to the KCI mags -- they're OK for range use).

Yeah, but my post said "at least."
Didn't want to brag by telling folks the full round count.

It's pretty hard to jam a Glock due to lubrication -- unless maybe you get too much in the chamber (shouldn't have any in there, nor any in the bore).
It's easy to get failures-to-fire if you get oil & the resulting goop in the striker channel. But the OP didn't mention FTF's.
I doubt if it's the position of the guide rod (first step, second step, etc). It should be placed into the "step" that's closest to the barrel -- but it may well jump to the other step while firing. No big deal.
Over-oiling any pistol, including Glocks, isn't good. So is under-lubing one. But that's unlikely to cause a firing//extraction//ejection issue.
I'm still not clear on exactly what's happening. I think the OP said "failure-to eject" --- but it sounds like the empty casing is not being extracted from the chamber (failure-to-extract), and then he's getting a double-feed ???
p.s. I'll still be glad to meet the OP at Precision. If we can't resolve the issue, I give him $75 for that POS.

Bought it the other day and it had only had about 5 rounds shot through it. Yes,i know you remember that thread so let's not dwell on the fact it may have had more that 5 shot through it.
Anyway,I'm not limp wristing it at all, have 3 clips. Two factory and one aftermarket. Also have 3 different types of ammo and it will just randomly jam no matter what clip or ammo is in the gun at the time. Ran through 160 rounds yesterday and it jammed up no less than 7 times on me. Doesn't really give me an easy feeling about the gun.
All three clips also seem to fit a little lose. I am hitting the butt of the clip pretty hard to make sure it's seating all the way in but there's like a 1/8th inch gap between the bottom of the clips and the butt of the gun.
Ohh,BTW,This is a GEN 3 9mm if it makes any difference.
I didnt read the entire thread, but did you try any magazines?
