Republicans take bribes to make law to help a rich guy steal from his kids

quote:
A controversial bill that would allow high-income parents to avoid paying tens of thousands of dollars a year in child support was written with the help of a wealthy donor to the bill’s author, Rep. Joel Kleefisch.
The Oconomowoc Republican acknowledged Friday that Michael Eisenga, a multi-millionaire business owner, and his attorney helped write the bill, which could pave the way for Eisenga to force the court to reopen his divorce settlement.
quote:
Two attorneys who represent Eisenga’s former wife, Richard Podell of Milwaukee and Michael Collins of Madison, noted Eisenga’s extensive campaign contributions to Kleefisch and other Republican politicians.
Eisenga donated the maximum amount allowed under law six times to Kleefisch...He also gave $7,500 to Kleefisch’s wife, Rebecca, who is the lieutenant governor, and $15,000 to Gov. Scott Walker.
quote:
Court documents show Eisenga, a Columbus developer, owner of American Lending Solutions and the former mayor of Columbus, has been ordered to pay a minimum $15,000 a month for his three children based on his 2010 income of $1.2 million and assets of $30 million.
so he makes 1.2 million, ordered to pay 180k in Child support....so he bribes multiple politicians to help him by making a bill capping what rich guys have to pay in child support.......because 1.02 million/year is too little for him to live off of, so he needs to steal it back from his kids.
LINK
but this is pretty good
quote:
Court records show Eisenga has sought unsuccessfully several times to lower his child-support payments. His latest appeal was rejected by the Wisconsin Court of Appeals on Oct. 3. Kleefisch introduced the bill two months later, on Dec. 6.
Kleefisch said he stands by the bill and denies that its primary goal is to benefit Eisenga.
“I do a gamut of legislation with the help and assistance of many, many constituents,” Kleefisch said, “and whether they give a contribution or not has not made a difference.”
Republicans...just as bad as Democrats

Sounds legit.
The depredations those children and their mother have undoubtedly endured.

If not someone who feels screwed by the previous law; who would you expect to fight for a change?

Alimony and child support aren't the same thing for anyone questioning why he shouldn't pay more.

Maybe he'll think back to this in a few years when he's wondering why his kids aren't interested in letting him meet his grandchildren.

I think it's a bit of a stretch to think his kids are the primary benefactor of his child care payments.

Millionaire's children on BadgerCare
Posted: May 30, 2012 2:06 PM PDT
The three children of a Columbus businessman receive their health insurance through the state's plan for low-income families, BadgerCare, despite their father's estimated worth of $20 million.
A 2011 divorce required Michael Eisenga to provide health insurance for his three young boys. The children's mother, Claire Hawthorne told 27 News Eisenga enrolled the children in BadgerCare.
Research director Jon Peacock of the Wisconsin Council on Children & Families said the state uses no income limit when assessing the eligibility of children for BadgerCare.
Eisenga has yet to respond to emails and phone calls from 27 News, seeking comment on why he enrolled his children in the state's low-income health insurance program, despite his wealth.
Peacock said a parent of Eisenga's economic situation would receive no state subsidy toward a child's health insurance premium in BadgerCare. But Peacock told 27 News a child's mere participation in BadgerCare would result in a cost-break in comparison to individual health insurance plans in the private market.
Peacock said participating families in BadgerCare at 200 percent of the federal poverty level receive health insurance plans for their children with less coverage options than the children of families with lower incomes.
Income limits on the participation of children in BadgerCare were lifted in 2008. Peacock said the risk of wealthier parents such as Eisenga enrolling children is outweighed by the benefits of opening the program to all.
this republican... put his kids on the Government's poor people insurance
if you read more about the guy, he's claiming that he makes no money anymore....he shifted his income so that he doesn't report as much and now wants them to look at that "income" in determining his obligation.

You don't have to spend a bazillion bucks to raise a kid properly fwiw. No, the child is not a victim of stealing here.
Granted, he may not get a Playstation 4 but so what?

Wow, you put that in the title..
court ordered payment....it is legally theirs
he's getting them to draft a law to take that order away, and then reopen his case so that he gets to pay them less.
what word not synonymous with theft would you use?

Man our country is fricked in that we don't know the difference between health insurance and health care.
So let me guess, the kids don't have maternity or mental health insurance coverage? probably also have lifetime limits...

It's the wife's to spend.
Show me the bank account with the kids name on it these payments are being deposited in to.

so I'm guessing your implication is that the wife is living life and not spending it on the kids.......so he's justified in not paying his kids, but letting them stay with their horrible mother? I'm the first to throw stones....if it said anywhere, that he was fighting for custody then I would listen, but since everything is about the $$$ with even him bribing scum to save $$$...I think you are misguided on this guy's nobility.

Typical republican the law isn't written to your advantage so lets just rewrite the laws asap and get it to our advantage.

Are you all in here really defending this shithead because he is a wealthy Republican donor?
If he was a lower class man who made $20,000 a year, it would be pointed to as an example of Democrats expecting the government to take care of their kids. This guy is giving just 15% of his income to his kids and bitching about it.
How about instead of defending this man, you compassionate conservatives realize that not only did he destroy the sanctity of marriage and the traditional home by leaving his wife, but also doesn't want to provide for his kids.

What a joke.
How exactly is this a "republican" problem and not a "government" problem?
This is a perfect example of 1) politicians gonna politican and 2) big government gonna big govern
