That and honestly if he spurns georgia again it may be his last chance to coach his alma mater
Posted on 1/13/14 at 2:37 pm to Ace Midnight
Then why didn't he take the job three years ago?
Posted on 1/13/14 at 2:37 pm to Damn Good Dawg
Well since most UGA fans said the same thing for the last 3 years and here we are again, I kind of doubt that.

Well, gents, I thought it was done too but last time Richt wasn't closed to retiring, he was actually closer to being fired. This way he could build his program before he took over. By all accounts Kirby had agreed in principle but Saban got to him and pointed out that Richt was on the hot seat and the Georgia stability wasn't near what Bama was. Now it's a different situation. Sure, fans aren't happy, but there isn't much heat on Richt. It was all on Grantham and now he is gone. And if they promised him under the table that he's succeed Richt then that's another thing altogether.
The variables are just plain different this time.
Plus, spurn us once and shame on you. Spurn us twice and shame on us. Idk, I'm not in Butts-Mehre, but I can't see UGA continually offering the dude jobs. I honestly thought after 2010 he's never be back in Athens again but there's talk Bobo mended that fence. Or UGA just really misses playing defense.

Who doesn't like watching Swann or Wiggins getting burned, or our safeties taking bad angles?

Are we talking about 3 years ago? Are we talking about not taking the job? No.
We're talking about right now, and reasons why he would take the job now.
If you give me 1 second, I might be able to think of some other reasons.

THIS^^^
we used to be feared, now we are the butt of jokes...remember when wide receivers were scared of guys like tra battle and greg blue?...remember when Pollack used to rape qb's?
we need to re-establish some things...

Yea, hell, I am down to re-establish thugs

I'll take thugs, if they can cover and tackle

Odell. Thurman. Case and point.

Fire Richt and hire Kirby as head coach if you want him that bad.

Lets see
UGA can match any offer Bama gives
It's his alma mater
May want out of Saban's shadow
Virtual head coach in waiting
Saban signed new deal
Rumors are Richt will retire in the next 3 years
Yeah we have nothing

So what's the Bammer version of a NegaDawg? I know that we would have found out if Saban had taken the Texas job, but we still might get our answer if we can lure Kirby. It seems like he's the only coach Saban was interested in keeping, based on the way CNS has been hiring folks.

Why hasn't Kirby tweeted anything about this like Roll Tide or something? His silence means one of two things...
1: He gone
2: His agent told him to STFU while he screws Bama for more money

I think he tweeted that he loved Alabama yesterday but someone said it was a fake account

That'll work, too.

Now, I have no idea what Kirby plans to do, but looking at what he has done over the last few seasons, I believe it would take a very lucrative offer to dislodge him.
He has been offered jobs, including some smaller head coaching jobs, every year. He just smiles and says, "No, thank you."
I believe he is holding out for a head coaching gig at a decent school. I do not think Richt is anywhere close to retiring, and even if he were, they would basically have to promise him that job to get him there.
I could be wrong, but I don't see Smart making a lateral move, even to his alma mater.

Becoming HCIW at any school sounds terrible.
