So last night durin the storm, lightening cracked and my tv shut down and will not power back on. Everything else is fine though. I unplugged the tv overnight hoping that would work and nothin this morning. Am I better off at just getting a new tv or can this one be fixed? TIA

Happened to me recently. Power supply was shot. $350 to repair. Depends on your home insurance deductible on what you should do.
I would also check all of your appliance throughout your house. Your tv might not be the only thing hit.

There was a similar thread a couple weeks ago about similar issues.
If you can confirm it was a power surge, you'll need to replace one of the boards inside. This is fairly simple to do. You'll have to google how to confirm which board, then find the board online.
If it's a larger TV, it's prob easier to fix. Smaller, just get a new one. If you can't DIY, prob better to get a new one.

Plug something else into the outlet and see if it works.
Plug the tv into a different outlet.
Check your breaker.

Brand, type and age? Samsung settled a huge class action lawsuit over the use of cheap Chinese (sorry to be redundant) capacitors on multiple years of their LCD TV's.
