Did the OB see these guys from Maine that go out and dip net for little clear eels.

I was doin the bouchon while watching so I recorded it and finished it tonight. You would thing every homeless man in Maine would have a dip net with the money they getting. I don't know how lonh season last, they did go the a week without catching anything.

sold Asian aquaculture mkt - the supplier gets $5000/kg (2.2lbs). They cant grow eels like other fish so to capture the small elvers and then grow them out. High percentage of those caught go to sushi trade so teh next eel you eat - was prolly caught on east coast, grown in asia then sold back to you. The east coast of N America is only "open" area for capture of small eels in world. Supply and demand economics. Ten yrs ago they sold for <$500/kg. Takes bout 1.5yrs to grow them out

in canada the fishers "own" rights to each river they fish - they caught quota (100kg) in <2wks so made $300-400K in less than 2 wks - then they patrolled "their" rivers for poachers - lots of poachers last 2 yrs. Kinda the same in maine, MA etc
