I know it's fairly new, but I have never been. A couple of friends are going tonight and I want to know what I am in for...
--Type of crowd? Young or old, classy or Livingston Parish?, etc...
--Drink selection?
--Good Scenery? (bar staff and patrons)

Is that the one owned by the metrocouncil guy?

I've heard nothing but good things about it really.
From what I understand its fairly upscale and have a number of specialty drinks

There are a couple of former Happy's gals that work there, so the scenery can be nice.
The crowd tends to be older in the early part of the evening (people getting together for drinks after work) then goes down to around the mid-to-late 20's. Very rarely do you see thugs or Methnecks in there (and if so, they don't stay long since there's no smoking inside and everyone else is dressed in at least newer jeans and a button-down shirt, if not business casual).

The guy who manages it used to manage happy's downtown. He brought some of the girls and back staff with him when he made the jump.
Huey's is a nice place.

One of the hottest bar staff girls I have seen in Baton Rouge (the blonde one)
Otherwise, not very cool. The bar is very small, and there is a pool table in the middle of the room. Last time I was there they had no draft beer. The building and build-out had some potential, but it basically ended up like any other bar downtown.

Draft Beer? You should go to Hooters next time

Only been once and it was a Thursday night, which is when no one goes downtown, so it was dead. Crowd was no particular type, really. Downtown in general tends to be a lot of Central/Livingston/AP people for some reason.
I like the concept of the place, but my drinks were absolutely horrible. Their take on the Moscow Mule is almost laughable. Watched a bartender attempt to make an older man an Old Fashioned, and it was so horrible that he walked her through the steps and made her make it in front of him as he did so.
Same bartender talked to me for a bit, and she had never been to 90% of the bars in BR (and had no idea where they were located).. because she had turned 21 that week.
I don't want someone who has no idea how to make drinks making my drinks at a specialty cocktail place.

It's on Third, which means it sucks, or rather the clientèle sucks.

I am older and went one night with some friends. The band was playing a mix of music including some old country and the bar is non smoking. The crowd was a mix of older and younger individuals. We had a good time.

The specialty drinks are really good if you are into that kind of thing (Im a beer and scotch guy). The bar is smaller but nice. They normally have some music/bands playing that are solid.
They have recently added some decent craft draft beers. Nothing huge but they are trying to expand that. The owners were going to open a second place around the corner that was going to be only beer so when they started the bar they didn't put alot of beer there. Now that they have decided to put their time/effort/ and money into Huey's they are expanding the beer selection.
I went on NYE and had a really good time. The crowd was all really good people (lots of hot ladies actually) and I had a damn good time.

I would not go if this is the case. I assume the concept is some kind of craft cocktail bar. IMO a bar needs at least 5 good craft beers on tap if they want to have a successful cocktail lounge in a downtown area. I'm not talking about domestic lagers either.

Not necessarily. I am fine at Happy's and I am fine at the Roux House. Wouldn't be caught dead at City Bar or the Office (or whatever they call it now).

Went there for a fraternity function, thought it was a great place. It's owned by the metro council guy

I associate Hooters with draft beer
I like Huey's because it has a few craft beers - which most of the other 3rd street bars didn't have last time I was there
