People are born Gay, but are trained to be Feminine or Masculine?

Is it possible that people are also born feminine and born masculine?
common belief is that you were trained as a child to like boy things or like girl things....But I don't get how "feminine Gays" came about then. Most would probably say that their Dad tried to get them to play football, but all they wanted to do was play with dolls, jump rope and hop-scotch.
Is it possible that gender identity is a "born that way" dynamic as much as wanting a same-sex partner is a born that way dynamic?
quote:
“Gender is the social and cultural construction of femininity, masculinity, and anything in between as opposed to the biological sex (male/female/a combination thereof). In the U.S., people are generally socialized to be ‘feminine’ or ‘masculine’ based on the cultural norms and assumptions of society. These assumptions of gender difference are often so embedded into our cultural systems, beliefs, and behaviors that they appear ‘natural’, and thus we tend to take them for granted”

I don't think you're "born gay" but at the same time I do think that you're taught to be feminine or masculine from an early age. I have a gay cousin who swears he's always known he's gay from a very early age.

I guess that this is the same old nature vs nurture thing. It seems intuitive that it would be some combination of the two.

No one is born gay. It's things that happen in ur life and personality traits u develop that determine who u like to have sex with!

One of my psych professors was obsessed over this issue but patently refused to hear any evidence or arguments that there are natural/ingrained gender roles. I often brought up the idea that are biological characteristics support what she believed to be social constructs. She would never enter into that conversation.

Wouldn't the amount of testosterone have an effect?

I believe people are born masculine or feminine, but society and culture help define what those are.
In other words, a mixture of nature/nurture.

So culture tells those who like the same sex to dress and act like the opposite sex? I never understood this part. If you are gay and like dudes, then why act feminine?

afraid to touch that obviously

If that's the case, get all of them on a cycle of Deca/Test.
Phil would not approve of this thread, btw.

Damn straight. There's no way guys like Liberace, Richard Simmons and Paul Lynde were born gay. They were coached up by the "other team" so to speak.

yeah, that's what I am getting as well, people angry that I would even suggest it.

It seems pretty obvious to me that there would have to be at least some natural gender roles if you look at some of the simple physiological differences between women and men.

Not angry, just not equipped with how to handle opposing evidence.
For instance, she would argue that the idea of Females being the primary caregiver to children is a cultural construct not a biological trait. I brought up the point that nature selected females to be the incubators of fetuses. Human females' bodies naturally care for children for nine months prior to birth. Wouldn't the biological fact that women are equipped with a uterus suggest that there is a biological tendency to become the primary caregiver?
To her credit, she was very willing to allow my point of view to be shared and she told me I ended up getting the highest grade in the class. Not ever professor is cool about you challenging them (even respectfully.)
