I'll try again when I get home. When I searched "Star Trek" I got everything except for DS9

It was on there in December - we watched DS9 last year on Netflix.

If it is on there, I'll be torn between that and watching Voyager, especially if we set up a viewing party.

I just checked my phone. It's there. Netflix search feature blows sometimes, though.

I have not been impressed so far. I just signed up yesterday afternoon, and the few things I searched for were not available; DS9 and Casino Royale.

B'llana Torres, Tom Paris, Harry Kim, and The Doctor were all good characters that should have more of a role.
Janeway, Chokotay and Neelix all sucked.

Her interest began and ended with skin tight suit.

So I found DS9 on netflix and watched the first episode last night. It was actually pretty engaging. The plot about the Orbs was kind of silly. The acting was wooden and a bit cheesey at times. Some of the lines were cringe-worthy. And the fact that the Orbs allowed free passage through the wormhole so quickly seemed kind of rushed and confusing. I may watch the second episode (really the third I guess) tonight.

One thing to note, if religion bugs the heck out of you, then this might not be the show for you because it does hit the religion / politics angle in tons of episodes.

Relgion doesn't bother me at all. I just thought the orb concept was a little silly.
Good to know.

It's just their version of artifacts or relics. There are orbs pretty much all the way to the end (but not continuous, by any means).
I recommend that you just relax and try to enjoy it. I thought the acting was fairly good, overall, but it has been some time since I watched the pilot. Nana Visitor and Rene Auberjonois, particularly, are solid down the stretch - the Ferengi actors are all good, and the other Federation cast seems to get better.
Avery Brooks is a throwback - he is polarizing - I'm a big fan (all the way back to Spenser for Hire) of his style, but I understand, like Shatner, he can be a polarizing figure - his voice inflection and gestures can come across as "over the top" in his effort to demonstrate emotion - in the final balance - he is more Kirk than Picard, and, in some ways, better for the job then either of those captains would have been.

And Avery whines when he gets mad.

That's good to know. I guess I'm too used to the old Star Trek TNG where stuff like this would seem strange and out of place.

That's the plan. I've enjoyed the few episdoes I caught in the past. When I was up at LSU I would occasionally catch an episode here and there late at night. While I didn't understand what was going on with the whole arc, the episode by itself was engaging enough to keep my interest.

This is why I love these kinds of threads. I'm a fan of Star Trek, but not a huge fan. Yet I find stuff like this endlessly fascinating.

I'm a fan of the Star Trek brand, in general, all the way through the end of 2008.

I was big into TNG, but couldn't really get into any of the other series. I tried Enterprise for a bit, but found it boring.

Enterprise grew on me. I didn't like it much until near the end.
The mirror universe episodes were money and it was cool that they even changed the Theme Song and intro to Evil Universe theme.
By the end, I was actually sorry to see the show go.

I've heard others say the same. Though the series finale enraged viewers so much I had to look it up and see what it was about. Very insulting to the fans and the actors on the show.
