Saying Monty has "developed" them though is incorrect. What part of their games do they have now that they didn't have when they came to NOLA?
But who develops anybody? Is Monty developing AD? I would think it'd take a very bad coach to mess up ADs development. Most development is really on the players to put in the effort to improve their skills. What Monty appears to be good at is convincing lifelong prima donas what they need to maximize and minimize. Monty would probably be the first to say it's a disservice to the players to credit him with their development, but I do think he seems pretty good at getting players to focus on what skills to develop.

What lifelong prima donnas has he actually had to deal with in your opinion?
I ask because Thornton didn't work, CP3 forced his way out, Eric Gordon is still lazy as hell, and Austin Rivers is sitting at the end of a bench despite seemingly having the exact opposite attitude you would have expected.
Tyreke Evans being the lone exception? Everyone was a prima donna in Sactown. Crediting Monty for Evans playing like he's on a team that has a shot at accomplishing something seems unfair.

I do think this is correct concerning bigs. He is a fantastic coach for 3-5s. He'd be an enormous asset as a head assistant for a legitimate head coach. I'd kill to say, hire Karl and keep Monty on the bench; but we all know that is impossible. Once you're out, you're out.
I think there is a misconception on this board regarding the Monty "haters" vs. the Monty "defenders". I don't think the majority of us hate Monty Williams at all. We just simply think he is in WAAAAYY over his head concerning the responsibilities that come with being the head coach of a winning basketball team.
