All 3 are great Tigers. Eric Reid belongs on that list.

Out of those 3 Chad and LaRon are pretty much even. Craig Steltz was a very good player but I think the other 2 were a cut above.

Dirty 30, brought fear and was just a nasty MF'r

LSU has had a ton of bad arse safeties. Would be impossible to pick the best.

Steltz was the only one with ball skills. And he played the run just as good as those other guys. Though Landry was a great blitzer

Yes. Eric Reid was better then jones IMO.

Dirty 30... but Chad is a CLOSE second due to his pitching against Texas.

Steltz was the best college player
Landry has grown into a beast and has the better NFL career.
Chad would've fallen somewhere in between imo...

I still laugh hysterically watching chad return that punt vs Miss State. Watching PP7 do the windmill was just classic.

CJ.. Won the game against Miss St in 09 and laid a lick on the R Kansas player the same year. Plus... how can you forget the strip against Sara Jessica Parker in the Bama game in 07? Not even close IMO

CJ was special, but Steltz was his equal if not better as a playmaker in college.
The tiebreaker for me is maybe not fair, due to CJ
s auto accident, but Steltz is still in tNFL.
All-around athlete? CJ easily as I watched him pitch and hit brilliantly in many baseball games at tBox.

Craig Steltz, Jack Henderson/Devery Hunt, (Hawthorne has been confused) Steve "Big Horn Battering Ram" Rehage, Tommy Casanova. (Casanova could come into the current SEC and still kick arse)

Casanova easily all-time..

Laron for sure. His career at LSU has the best collection of monster hits by far, both legal and illegal lol. I don't know how anyone can choose anyone else.
That being said, I'm a huge fan of Steltz. Heck the kid was in my homeroom class, and I've never known a classier more humble kid. I once asked him how he felt about playing with those guys on a natl. championship defense, and he shrugged and replied as if he wasn't sure if he would actually be on the field at LSU.
What I like about him the most was how he did what he did. Think back to his career at LSU. He had several interceptions, but if you recall all of them were seemingly thrown right to him. It looked as if he never had to make a play on a ball. This is because he read the plays right and was totally in the right spot. This teaches me that having a 4.3 or 4.4 forty is nice but it doesn't mean shite if you are mis-diagnosing the plays and taking a step in the wrong direction at the onset. Obviously he didn't.
In fact I spoke with an LSU assistant coach his freshman year and he said Craig was a step too slow to ever play "SEC ball". Luckily that coach is gone.
chad jones was impressive but his overall career at LSu left me wanting more.
How bout Jeffery Dale and Lifort Hobley?
