Netflix vs Amazon Instant Video

Is one better than the other? It appears that they mostly have the same movies. I have had netflix and just signed up for Amazon Prime so I can get movies from there. Should I drop netflix and roll with Amazon?

Very few times do I watch something on Prime. there are a few shows like justified that netflix doesnt have.

Why not have them both?
Amazon has the newer movies a la carte.
Netflix has a large library for a small subscription fee.
ETA: I'm referring more to the Amazon Instant general service rather than Prime.

I have both, but that's because the Amazon movies is secondary to the shipping benefit for my recently discovered amazon addiction.
I might drop Netflix when amazon prime instant gets on the Chromecast.

amazon's prime ones done have much really that netflix doesn't have. I use it to purchase shows/movies and watch when they aren't on netflix or available with prime

Netflix has almost everything Amazon prime has. I only keep it for the free shipping.

I just got a roku and signed up for prime as well. I have netflix and I can tell you after a week I haven't opened netflix. All I watch is prime now.

Yea I guess it really isn't that much to keep Netflix... Just trying to justify in my mind why I need to pay for it when I also get movie streaming through Amazon prime that is already paid for.

I've had Amazon instant video for about 3 years. My daughter has won free subscriptions for selling Girl Scout cookies.
I've only seen other friends Netflix.
My opinion is Netflix has more viewing options. With Amazon Prime, you get free shipping on Amazon Prime merchandise. (But the math gets fuzzy there too as often shipping may be free or items cost less on regular Amazon)

Maybe I was wrong about Netflix having more to offer.
I started watching the new season of Justified yesterday.

If you mean because you get free 2 day shipping then yeah. but for video library no
I love prime but I rarely ever watch anything on there. Justified is the only show I can think of

I have both, but I've honestly never used Prime for video streaming.

I have noticed that some shows are free on one and not the other or even available. Dora and Diego are not on Netflix for instance.

Prime has a ton of stuff Netflix doesn't have. I use both.
Problem with Prime is the shitty interface and the god dang 1 click purchase buttons all over the freaking place which THEY SAY can't be disabled even though you can disable 1 click on all the other parts of the site.
With dual monitors sometimes I just click from one screen to the other without paying much attention and I have accidentally purchased tons of shows. Fracking 1 click scam.

They both carry more movies and tv shows than you could watch in two lifetimes. Netflix is $96 a year just for the streaming video. Amazon is $79 for both the streaming video and the free two-day shipping on almost everything you buy. Netflix offers a better selection of the latest releases but not by all that much. Don't forget that these are not your only sources of movies. You can round out each one's selections with movies from your cable/satellite provider and from other free streaming channels like Crackle and basic Hulu.

Then maybe I was correct.
The one knock I do have on Amazon is that it doesn't play well with the one android device in the house. But it streams through the ps3's and apple devices and kindal's just fine.

Netflix has better TV exclusives IMO. House of Cards, arrested, orange is the new black, the killing. I have both prime and netflix. I don't use prime at all, but it may be worth dropping Netflix if you don't watch the aforementioned shows.
