Are you sure you were in Destin? Go there in the summer or spring and lets get your opinion then!

If you think Destin is that nice you should trek a little bit further East to the beaches and communities of 30A. Santa Rosa, Grayton, Watercolor, etc. That is AWESOME!

I actually stayed in Santa Rosa. Rented a very nice 4 br beach house that was right across the street from beach access.

It was a little chilly for the beach so we didnt really do the hole beach thing everyday so we got to venture over to Destin. It seems a LOT more busier in Destin

And Miramar beach and all of 30A is not Destin, but it's close enough.

Martin, it's all psychological. You yell barracuda, everybody says, "Huh? What?" You yell shark, we've got a panic on our hands on the Fourth of July.

If you're not interested in going out. But just a nice relaxing week go about an hour or so to the east. To Cape San Blas, nothing to do but relax.

Why? We here in LA take Destin for granted, but it truly is one of the premier beaches in the country. The weather, sand, water, and uncrowded beaches are very hard to beat and actully pretty rare. People come from all over the world to vacation in Destin.

In Destin, I am lucky to get 20 rows from the water. Plus, to get back to the room or condo, I have to take a bus.

Good grief. Dude, where do you stay?

You must be very poor.

We visited Destin a few weeks ago and the fishing was absolutely incredible for this time of the year. We only had to go out a few miles to land into the deep water

Pics?

What all did you catch?

I stayed in San Destin last year and the problem is you're not just sharing the beach with other people staying in your building, they have buildings stacked 3 deep then some more across on the bay side that all use the same quarter mile of beach.

There was a place called the Leeside Inn on the bayside. Very reasonably priced hotel. It had a dock out back with a long pier. It was where most of the oldtimers put their boats. It had a bar halfway down the pier. You could give them 10 bucks and they gave you a giant steak and you could cook it yourself outside the bar. Awesome place. Really good fishing right from the dock when you got in for the day. It got totaled by a hurricane and its hard to even find the spot where it used to be. Some of the best times of my life were spent there.
