I know everyone reemed obama for the "apology tour" but maybe at this point it's best we just say sorry to some of these places and withdraw our involvement with them.

We should have removed most of our troops out of everywhere long ago.

Shut down foreign bases and build new ones along the border. So many issues solved.

I can agree with getting out of Europe and to some extent the ME. Keeping our bases in the Pacific is a must to counter China. This is one area where Obamas foreign policy is coherent.

The US is the world's only hope for world peace really. The world is basically at peace right now and we've gotten off to a far less violent start of our century than basically any before it. The world's value is centered around our wealth as a people, and if we go, then the world will fall back into chaos and expect worldwide war.

Which is why we should stop pissing away our treasure funding military adventures around the world. Our military doesn't keep the world at peace. International commerce does.

What happens when China and Japan get into in the new China ADIZ which neither Japan nor the US recognizes and it blooms into a wide scale regional war? What does economics say about that?

That fighting a modern war over an arbitrary line is a terrible economic decision and is incredibly unlikely?

Agreed. So why would the Chinese create an arbitrary line just to piss the Japanese off? Could it be that they deem the natural resources around those islands are of enough Economic value to risk war with the Japanese?

My guess? They hope Japan will roll over, which is possible.
Do you think there is much of a chance that both Japan and China are worth fighting a full scale war over this line? I certainly don't.

I think there won't be a war as long as the US maintains military parity with the Chinese in the Pacific. If we leave the area China may very well take those islands by force and Japan may feel the need to fight for them.

I think this as well.

I don't see that happening, whether we are there or not. However, if it does, it will only be to their detriment. I see no reason to spend our treasure simply to act as a disincentive to two stupid major powers spending theirs.

This! Also, require all NGOs and other transnational aid relief agencies to distribute contraceptives in the overpopulated and underdeveloped countries.
