Since when did Jennings have a torn ACL, pretty sure that was Rettig's junior year.

Winston was a big time baseball prospect, alot of people thought he would never see a college classroom.

Winston has nothing to do with this thread. He was a 2012 recruit. Jennings was a 2013.

I've heard from a friend who follows lsu very closely that Jennings is a film room fiend and studies very hard. Is that true? Honestly haven't followed young players very much over past year due to other commitments.

Yeah, a lot of reports when he got to LSU in the spring as an EE he was already one of the hardest workers on the team, and constantly in the film room. Rettig was too, FWIW. I think getting both of them on campus as EE's pushed both of them even harder.

I've heard the same thing. Obviously having the physical tools to play the position is paramount, however being cerebral about the potions can be just as important. Jennings has the smarts to compliment his physical attributes (and work ethic). It's one of the characteristics that I like most about him and will definitely work to his benefit at the next level.

Super arm strength is for sure not one of his attributes. Weaker than the best, better than the average. I think "weak arm" is a little overboard.

Without a doubt he's a film room fiend and a coaches dream (from the "coachability" aspect). His HS coach raved about both since he was a Jr, and we hear the same from LSU Staff.

from the Elite 11:
quote:

• Anthony Jennings, Marietta (Ga.): Jennings isn't very tall, but he's compact and well built. He won't wow scouts with his arm strength, but he can still get the ball where it needs to be on time. Perhaps most importantly, Jennings has good footwork and accuracy.
And that's without a year with Cam, who has a reputation for developing QBs.

Virginia Tech & Nebraska aren't "2nd Tier" schools....

They were recruiting him pretty hard.

But yeah, I wonder why UGA overlooked him.

Really depends on your definition of 1st and 2nd tier

I think 1st tier should be held by teams who have a shot at a national championship every single year. That only holds true to: Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, Oregon, tOSU, Oklahoma, Texas, Stanford, Florida State.

There are a few that are borderline, like Auburn, USC, Michigan, Clemson, Notre Dame etc.

In state higher rated QB Brice Ramsey was offered over Jennings.

Va Tech and Nebraska are absolutely 2nd tier schools when it comes to recruiting.

see it that way too (however, time frame has to be considered)

A second definition or difference between 1st and 2nd tier would be the sway or brand name recognition on the recruiting trail. And I'm struggling to come up with a good example of a team (in the last 5yrs) who's recruiting is well above it's play. And don't say Texas. Recruiting is part of the reason they are suffering. That's a staff of star gazers, not evaluators.

all i know is, that, he won the elite 11 regional in buford, ga over 84 other qb's from across the southeast. including brice ramsey. he blossomed late and really began to turn heads after his verbal to us.
