It was for him. He said he planned more for it. Strategic.

Is moving out the way of a punch a "strategy"?
Anyway, here's an update on Silva
Anyway, here's an update on Silva
quote:
"Following Saturday evening's UFC 168 main event, former champion Anderson Silva was taken to a local Las Vegas hospital where he underwent surgery to repair a broken left leg. The successful surgery, performed by Dr. Steven Sanders, the UFC's orthopedic surgeon, inserted an intramedullary rod into Anderson's left tibia. The broken fibula was stabilized and does not require a separate surgery. Anderson will remain in the hospital for a short while, but no additional surgery is scheduled at this time. Recovery time for such injuries may vary between three and six months.

When fighting hendo you use a strategy to avoid his overhand so you rotate away from it or constantly keep distance where he can't unload it. So ya it is a strategy

Yes. You are just being obtuse.

Does Belfort get to continue and take steroids for the Weidman fight?
Posted on 12/29/13 at 10:31 am to CunningLinguist
Well yea, we want the fight to be competitive

Checking kicks is a dangerous technique. Usually the risk is breaking a toe or something but obviously snapping your ankle can happen as well.
Oh and Weidman is 100% legit and will be a top 5 10 P4P fighter for many many years BUT Vitor is going to KO him.

I think I'm more interested in Machida-Weidman than Vitor, but Vitor has been on a roll so he deserves it.
UFC 170 is very unappealing. I can see 5/7 going to a dec
Ronda Rousey (8-0) vs. Sara McMann (7-0)
Rashad Evans (19-3-1) vs. Daniel Cormier (13-0)
Rory MacDonald (15-2) vs. Demian Maia (18-5)
Gilbert Melendez (22-3) vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov (21-0)
Rafael dos Anjos (20-6) vs. Rustam Khabilov (17-1)
Raphael Assuncao (21-4) vs. Francisco Rivera (10-2)
Robert Whittaker (11-3) vs. Stephen Thompson (8-1)

The fact you are saying a female fight is fight of the night so far says to me, either you like broad fights wayyyy more than me or that it has been some shitty stoppages....
No way it over shadows Weid Silva...no way

LAS VEGAS – Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate and Travis Browne each earned $75,000 bonuses for their performances at Saturday’s UFC 168 event, and Rousey doubled up with another $75,000. Rousey earned the “Submission of the Night,” Browne won “Knockout of the Night” and Rousey and Tate picked up “Fight of the Night” honors. The double bonus gave Rousey a total of $150,000 in bonus money.

I do find it interesting Weidman planned to check Silva's kicks this time. He knew Silva would attack his legs after the first fight. I'm not saying he planned to break his leg, but he certainly wanted to check the kicks more this time.
Just a long winded version of saying Weidman seems to be a very strategic fighter.
My father taught me how to check leg kicks when I was 5 years old in the back yard. If someone kicks low you lift your leg to check it, its not some secret strategy. Its funny how Weidman has people believing his secret powerful leg checks just shatter legs!

CW blocked it high on his shin. Good block. Wish the fight would have played out.

Would have got his arse kicked
Posted on 12/29/13 at 4:50 pm to Good Times
It was a great check, you can see he even opened up a bit so he could block it with a harder part of his leg, but still just a leg check. Its a technique used in every single MMA fight where low kicks are thrown but its never talked about because its not a big deal.

This is what happens when you have a year where upwards of 7 maybe 8 of the better fighters in the world have likely had the last fights of their careers. It'll be a transition card where new stars can emerge. UFC 170 doesn't have name value because I don't know if I could pick any of the 10 guys on the undercard out in a small crowd.
This usually means there's a lot to prove and a lot at stake for hungry up and comers, looks to be a lot of experience on that card with only one guy besides the ladies having less than 10 professional fights. Could be some really tremendous fights in Feb.

you can't beat serious. this is the equivalent of a wrestling getting a takedown while knocking himself out by hitting his head on the canvas

i think kabib should fight rustam

Lindland and Maynard.
