Did anyone not realize who the boss from Florida's lawyer was? I noticed that immediately.
you noticed that after seeing him on the screen for 10 seconds 1.5 hours earlier. I'm impressed

look just because you have no respect for the king of deli meats doesn't mean that all of us are that disrespectful

Sorry we didn't find this one to be the hilarious masterpiece you seemed to have found it to be.
It missed the mark by a good bit.
I still yet to understand how this movie was "hilarious."

Go see Wolf of Wall Street. Tons of titties and dick jokes. You'll love it.

hell anytime they were developing a plan and the shot shifted to cooper's dumbass character pontificating, it was hilarious
pretty much anything cooper's character did once the plot got moving was hilarious b/c he was so incompetent

People have different senses of humor. That is allowed.

Saw it and thought the movie was forgettable. Performances were great but like others have said , it was no where near great. Parts are greater than the whole. It was not hilarious either. Had funny parts and that's it.

I still wouldn't classify this as a comedy, but I understand their motives for getting it into that category for the Golden Globes (with the other movies that are not technically comedy/musicals).
What made us laugh out loud:
Louis CK's frustration
Jennifer Lawrence's everything
Bradley Cooper overreaching on pretty much everything
Then your random 70's fashion and hair.
Not a comedy, not with what happens to some of those characters, but some really funny moments.

i thought lawerence stole the show imo,
I think Amy Adams side boob stole the show.

I didn't think Lawrence stole any show. She was a side show at best. Feels like people want to believe it, badly.

I love JLaw but I don't think she was scene stealer in this movie by any means.

Really solid movie. Think it might be a little over hyped but I enjoyed. Bale killed it in this movie, but I thought Renner gave the best performance. Extremely surprised by how great he was in this.

Awesome movie, definitely one that you could watch again and catch some things you don't see the first time.

speaking of...if anybody goes to see this again, please see if there is an error where they use "big face" 100s instead of hte 100s you'd see in the late 70s. pretty sure i caught that mistake

quote:Agree. Would not pay to see again. Bale was very good.
It was an ok movie. Good enough but not nearly worth the hype. Bale was the only thing I would call outstanding.

I definitely enjoyed the movie, and like some said it was funnier than I expected. I did build it up way too much in my head before seeing it though.
I agree with Uncle Stu's comments. The pacing and flow seemed off, and it was disjointed at times, (especially in the first hour or so.)
The acting was excellent as expected. Adams, Bale and especially Cooper were great. Renner impressed me, as I didn't know what to expect out of him. I am not a Jennifer Lawrence fan at all. In fact I think she wasn't good in Silver Linings Playbook, but I actually really enjoyed her role in this.
The characters turned out to be a lot different than I expected. I expected Amy Adams to be similar to the Penelope Cruz Blow character, and Jeremy Renner to be a money grubbing political crook. It was refreshing to see different types of characters in a movie like this.
Overall I enjoyed it, but it left some potential out there. I feel like if you give Martin Scorsese this script, he could make it a great movie. I think they could have made it more intense, and better utilized the 70's rock music even more than they did, like in the trailer.
I like David O Russell movies a ton and I Heart Huckabees is a favorite of mind, but this type of movie didn't suit him as much as some others do.
It was probably still near an 8/10, but could have been better.

Just went and saw this tonight.... enjoyed the hell out of it! Christian Bale was awesome
Amy Adams
David O. Russell does it again! The soundtrack is legit. I'll stick with the critics and the majority on this. I laughed my arse off.
