Not sure why the extreme positions are the only ones acknowledged.

Make changes to the staff before firing Monty if on the court performance is believed to be consistently behind where it should be at this point in the season.

I am not sure it is, actually.

What changes to the staff would help though? Unless Monty plans to try a new defense, what's the point of getting a new defensive minded coach. And if you bring in an offensive minded coach, the team is already pretty good in that area. It'd be great if adding the right assistant could help the players execute better, but the assistants we have now seem to be pretty decent. I just don't see Monty bringing in a new assistant for the purposes of making significant scheme changes, and that seems like the only thing that would make much difference.

Yep.

Close loss, blowout, injuries, competition, location dont matter. Pitchforks are out. Often cliched, general critiques claiming Monty always does XYZ and is the only thing holding this roster back from competing for a playoff spot (which they are doing and are in position to do)

Its a race to see who can be right about a mediocre team being mediocre. Its all so miserable.
