On gameday Miles is middle of the pack at best. At recruiting and running a program Miles is #2 behind Lil' Nicky. All things considered he's #4.

Then explain how he outcoached Saban in 2010 and 2011.

Who is ahead of him? And what results validate that?

Im looking at the whole body of work, not just 1 or 2 plays. Did Gerry Dinardo also outcoach Saban in the 95 Independence Bowl? Im considering all the wasted timeouts, Jordan Jefferson mess, ole miss losses, tennessee near-loss, etc. There are plenty of game day brain farts to choose from. If you think he's some outstanding game-day coach, you need to take off the p&g sunglasses.

This is not an insult, its pretty good.

Saban and Spurrier easily. Use whatever results you want. And i'd put Malzahn at #3 based on what he's done in his recent 2 seasons at AU (2 NC caliber teams, one as a OC, one as HC)
Miles at #4 mainly because of recruiting, players like him, and play hard for him. He runs the program pretty smoothly, keeps it clean, and has been able to sustain success despite having a new QB almost every year.

No you aren't.

He's made more brilliant calls than he's made dumb ones.

What has Spurrier done at USC to say he's better than Miles right now?

Malzahn ahead of Saban because of two fluke plays this year? I thought you looked at whole body of work.

Les Miles in a great manager of LSU's football program, but not a great coach.

He needs to find great coordinators for his teams to succeed at a high level.

no he hasnt.

2 top 10 finishes in the last 2 years, with less talent. Why do you not count his time at florida? Did he forget how to coach?

I didnt put Malzahn ahead of Saban.

Winning just about 80% of your games in the hardest division of the hardest conference doesn't happen by chance.

bullshite. Fake punts, fake fg's, going for 4th downs, some QB changes late in games, etc. There have been plenty of great calls. You just don't want to admit that.

quote:

Why do you not count his time at florida?

Because it happened in the 90s. Big deal. Spurrier has never beaten Miles, so sorry.

quote:

ow many "fluke" plays has Miles benefited from in his time at LSU?

Several, but that doesn't change the fact that it's a little early to say Malzahn is better than one of the winningest coaches in the SEC right now. Especially when Les beat him soundly this year.

why is spurrier considered better? miles continues to beat him h2h and not just off talent.. he actually out-coached him both meetings

Miles is top 3 no matter what tho

This. Its not an insult, and its true.

Sorry if you cant understand the difference.

Game day/playcalling/preparing for a game VS running a program. You dont have to be great at both to win. Miles is good enough at the 2nd that it makes up for his lacking in the first.

Explain how a not great coach has one of the best records over the last 9 years. Is it an accident? Is it all luck? When will the luck run out?

I just did. He's good enough at recruiting/running the program that it makes up for his deficiencies at x's and o's. Sorry you think this is an insult and hurts your feelings. Nobody said it was luck.

Sounds to me like something only a great coach could do. Last time I checked X's and O's are only part of what a coach does.

Doesn't hurt my feelings, just makes you look silly. You don't have one of the best records over a decade by not being a great coach.
