I don't think they get Briles either. This search has all the makings of one giant cluster frick. Should be fun
starting to remind me of Florida's search after Spurrier left...Foley flew all over the country interviewing top names and ended up with Ron Zook.

Chicken, you honestly think Saban isn't a possibility?

Bingo.

The purported money is going to intrigue some people, but at the end of the day I don't think UT is going to pull a "big time" coach like Meyer or Harbaugh. I think Charlie Strong would definitely go. Franklin likely would as well (there's a ceiling at Vandy, and he's probably close to hitting it) Can Texas get over the fact that not everyone is falling all over themselves to take the job enough to make a good hire?

I think the circumstances are hurting Texas's chances as well. Malzhan would probably be interested, but he's not leaving with Auburn getting ready to play for the NC. Fisher would probably be less interested and he's in the same boat as Malzhan. Kelly would likely love to be the HC, but he can't right now. I don't think Tomlin leaves the Steelers. He's the HC for one of the best and most loyal owenership families in the NFL. Mora just past on his alma mater. I doubt he leaves for TX.

This is purely my opinion, but if I were UT I'd give Mark Richt a call. He's a relatively young guy who's been successful at UGA but has seemed to be on the "hot seat" for the last 5-6 years. Very good QB developer who would be going to a state known for producing great QBs. Recruiting would probably be a little bit easier in TX, and the competition wouldn't be as tough as in the SEC. He's been at UGA for over 10 years now, and might be silently looking for a change of scenery. With his record-setting QB moving on, now would probably be the perfect time to make a move.

kige that

It seems like there are too many people with their fingers in the pie at Texas who demand to have influence/input and who like to leak information.

That's got the potential to end up with a Zook style hiring even if they are Texas.
