Although a part of me would be nothing less than ecstatic if Saban were to leave and get out of our hair, now that this is possibly coming to fruition I am starting to have mixed feelings. I know that Alabama would no doubt hire another top flight coach if Saban were to leave for Texas, but I would be lying if I said that I would look forward to playing against Alabama as much as I do now. As disappointing as it can be in some years, nothing beats the exhilaration/excitement of seeing the Tigers suit up against an Alabama team led by Little Nicky.

Totally agree. I must say though, I'm tired of him taking our top recruits year in and year out as well as losing to that jump.

Saban leaving is so much worth seeing the Bama fans meltdown, proving Saban's relationship with Bama is nothing more than an employee employer relationship where he gets his paycheck. Bama fans think he should feel there is no other place to be than their beloved tide. After all, how could any one lucky enough to be their head coach even think about leaving? The Bear may have had emotional ties with the school but Saban doesn't give a rat's azz. He is all for Saban and only Saban. LSU fans can enjoy the reality meltdown of him leaving which has always been inevitable.

Personally, I'm over Saban. I would be thrilled to see him go. The LSU-Bama series will continue to be the biggest game of the year and that will never change.

Would love for Saban to leave...preferably to a more remote conference...even better...THE NFL!

Please. IF he leaves, good. He's been the sole obstacle in 2011 and 2012. Frankly, the rivalry is not exactly trending up for us--to many in the country, Bama basically put the nails in our coffin this year.

The other plus is obviously seeing the fans meltdown as others have said. He'll steal some LA recruits still but at least they won't be working against us in the regular season. That's much more palatable.

The upside to Saban leaving Alabama is watching the gumps come to terms with being jilted.

Bama will still be a force LSU will have to contend with even if Saban departs.

I would miss playing him for sure, but I would not miss they guy plucking 5 stars out of the state.

I say this realizing Texas is right next to us .

What coach wants the pressure of following Saban at Bama?

add to that Auburn, who is really really good under Malzahn. The pressure to beat Auburn wouldnt give anyone much cushion.

frick that. He can peace the frick out. He's gotten every break his way and has directly resulted in LSU not getting to and/or winning the title game 2 of the last three years. His whole dynasty is based on mulligans and sure as hell almost got right back in this year had FSU lost.

So no, I'm tired of him getting his way despite losing key games when they should but don't count.

Have no fear. The SEC will expand to 16 teams and Texas will join the SEC West. The rivalry continues.

Holy shite, the meltdown on this board would be epic if that happens.

Operative word - if.

He's not going anywhere. Bama will lock him up with this extension until he retires.

I think this is just a negotiation tactic. But, Texas definitely has the money to make him the highest paid coach in the country.

They're still going to pretty damn good when he leaves. The talent is still there.

Yeah, Nick is the extra incentive to really give our all to beating Alabama. His absence will be a glaring one for a couple years. Then forgotten. I remember when Tubberville left Auburn and the glow of that big game sort of dimmed, and hasn't quite yet been restored. But I do believe Gus M. will fix that and that big game will become as big or bigger than ever.
