"Alabama officials are worried about Saban's lack of response to the contract extension offer."
Saban signed an extension in March. Alabama feels the need to come back now with another one.

Host: What can you tell us about Nick Saban and his contract situation with Alabama?
Finebaum: I'm told that he has had a contract extension on his desk since last Friday. Now, it's worth remembering he signed an extension in March, but a lot of people have been concerned about these Texas rumors for some time, so the school went to him, up'ed the ante, offered another extension, and Saban has not responded. He's been out, you know, he was on game day on Saturday. He has been recruiting since then. He has not responded, and Alabama officials, I'm told tonight, are getting real uncomfortable with the lack of response.
Host: So do you think this vacillation is real on Saban's part, or he's made up his mind? What do you think are the factors in terms of when that thing will be signed, and what is the ending?
Finebaum: Well, I think you always have to throw an agent into the mix. Jimmy Sexton is his agent. He also represents Jimbo Fisher, who just got a new extension, Gus Malzahn, it kind of goes on from there. Most people think Jimmy Sexton is playing predictable games. This happens every December. However, the Mack Brown story, the way it has been expedited, does concern some Alabama people that maybe Saban is looking at it one more time. The conventional wisdom is, and Saban said a couple weeks ago on he's not leaving. The quote was "I'm too damn old to start over." He told 60 Minutes that he regretted the Miami situation where he said, "I'll never go to Alabama." Most people believe he is going to stay. This is negotiations, but as long as the story is unsettled, Alabama people are growing increasingly nervous.
