originally know as ABV. There was a merger in the company last month (now listed as ABEV) and had a 5:1 stock split.
Now trading at less than 7$ a share which i think is a very good time to jump in. It has a tremendous upside esp with the upcoming world cup in Brazil

I agree. Been watching this stock as a good consumer play on the Brazil games. Good price point? Maybe now.

What else do you like about the stock besides an upcoming World Cup play? Can you give us newbies to the stock a high level overview?

ABEV

I bought about 1k$ of ABEV when Brazil was doing a toilet bowl swirl but had to sell in October when I needed money (still in college)

I am thinking about buying some back up when I have money come in soon. I am excited

Brazil is producing a strong middle class (along with inflation). ABEV is the 800LB gorilla in beer (65%) and alcohol. I like it's market position.

Well, Brazil has had a rough economic summer causing some unrest amongst the locals. So, risk is aplenty. Sales have been flat. Is it time to turn? Maybe yes, maybe no. The bad news appears cooked in. I say it's up from here. Just an opinion.

They are positioned to grow into the South American market leader in beverage distribution. They have solid licensing deals. As long as management is good, increased revenue will turn into capital reinvestment and allow fast growth in South America

Brazil's economy shrinks for first time since 2009

(Reuters) - Brazil's economy contracted in the third quarter for the first time since early 2009 as a steep drop in investment showed flagging confidence in what was recently one of the world's most attractive emerging markets.

The economy shrank 0.5 percent between July and September from the prior three months, government statistics agency IBGE said on Tuesday, missing forecasts in what has become a disappointing routine over the last three years. Gross domestic product had been expected to drop 0.2 percent, according to the median forecast of 40 economists polled by Reuters.

The weak quarter reinforced a dimming economic outlook for Brazil, which has struggled to contain inflation and stay competitive in recent years, tarnishing the reputation earned with a decade of robust growth.

The only reason I knew about it was there was a piece about it on CNBC this morning. How the "B" in the BRIC countries is stumbling.....

Yes, I saw that too. I've been considering entering a Brazilian ETF when I think the bottom is near. Hence, my interest in ABEV and all things Brazil. It's still falling.

I got in VALE and ITUB, both at bottoms. My intent is a 5 year hold on them. Good dividends and hopefully great appreciation ahead.

If I was looking into some of these stock options, where would be the best place to get started and are there minimums required to set up an account or to buy stock?

TD Ameritrade is a good place to start. Pull them up online and see how to set up an account. Minimums are pretty low.

PS: Do you really mean "options" or straight stock trading? Either way TD is a good place to start but options trading will require it's own approval level.
