Saban, perhaps with the inadvertent help of the media and some fans, has created an impression that does not match reality. LSU has more players in the NFL than Bama. LSU also has more DBs in the NFL and they are performing better. The fact that this is true when Saban typically has better rated recruiting classes tends to indicate to me that development is actually better at LSU.

Despite this, there appears to be a perception among some of the Louisiana recruits that going to Bama is somehow going to help them get into the NFL or get there faster. History does not show this to be true but they seem to believe it anyway.

Collins would be a 1st rounder if he went to wake Forrest or southern.

Deval will be at least top 3 rounds.

Hootie&cam? No coment.

Thats because until Landon, he had been getting the second strong LA recruits.

Kenny Bell was our second choice to Rueben. We didn't offer Eddie Lacy because he probably can't read.

That's a phony baloney justification. The real reason is Saban has managed to get some handlers in place in NE LA. Now that his tactic has been exposed, I expect the pipeline will dry up. Please explain to me what you mean by this "handler" thing.

Why is Saban so strong in Monroe?

From everything we've read from folks up there, it's boots on the ground. They are working it harder than we are. Seems to be the refrain from the recruits we've lost, as well as their families, coaches in the area, and other folks in the know. The question is, why?

I would also be shocked if money isn't making the rounds up there in some fashion. It's off the beaten trail compared to New Orleans or Houston or Atlanta, and covering up mischief in a small town is easier than where the major media is watching.

Saban loved the area when he was at LSU. He personally has plenty of connections. And Bama has enhanced those connections, including building better (better for them, not in comparison to LSU) relationships with area coaches. That is his strength up there. And it makes sense, recruiting is about relationships and he's fostered relationships in that area for over a decade now.

There are six threads about Alabama on the LSU Recruiting Board and every one has people posting "$$$"

Normally the tards get here in January, looks like an extra month of dumb to put up with until Signing Day.

They are tricked into going to Bama as a "business decision" with gimmicks and shallow promises.

LSU is 3.5 hrs away through small towns with tons of speed traps. Alabama is 4 hrs away straight on I 20 with straight cruise control the whole way.

Saban made NELA a huge focus while he was at LSU and the highschool coaches remember that. He continues to make it a huge focus, while we put studrawara in that area that has 2 5 star positions of need.

Its honestly not that hard of a sell especially once you have 3-4 guys who start the flow like luther davis kenny bell and denzell devall.

We got out worked.

Someone posted yesterday each teams recruiting budgets and I was shocked at how little $$ we allow for recruiting. Even Vanderbilt spends more on recruiting than we do. Recruiting is too important part of the game to not increase the budget

This has been discussed here a lot. Most of LSU's targets are inside the state, with a few in east Texas, and less than a dozen out of state.

Bama is forced to recruit nationwide. They spend the majority of that budget on airfare. Tennessee spent an ungodly amout of money on their recruiting a couple years ago, simply because there aren't that many prospects in TN.
