Dads, how would you handle your son if he cried over a LSU football loss?

This is something that is being discussed / argued about on the SEC scored bored.

Been there done that.
Not much you can do except let him let it out.
I remember doing it when I was a kid.

The kid was crying because he is a ginger. Not that they lost.

I'd be disappointed in myself for installing so much concern over a game into my young kid. That kid only cares bc his dad told him to care.

I'd tell him to get a grip. It's a game and he is just a fan. To have that much invested emotionally in someone else's accomplishments is pathetic.

I don't know, I'm still trying to figure out how to handle LSU fans whining/crying over LSU victories...

Depends on the age of the son. If he were 42 I'd probably disown him. However little kids have a tendency to take the most trivial of things like football games very seriously. I believe I would try to explain the things in life that truly matter to him and allow him to absorb the lesson on his own.

Not an issue. He would be disappointed and kids cry when disappointed.

I'd be proud that my son was so passionate about his team.
It's the opposite of screaming like a maniac when they do well. Some may think you are foolish for that.

Hug him and cry along...

I'd say he's a chip off the old block.

Didn't read any responses but as a mom of 3 my gut reaction is that EVERYONE gets a trophy these days and EVERYONE is a winner and kids just do NOT know how to lose.

I cried one time when we lost. I was probly about 10 or so. 1984-86. Ive been a fan since I was 5 in 1978 and went to my 1st game. My dad coached 3 players who played LSU. Thats why it pisses me off when these bandwaggon fans rips our team or our coach. I went to LSU from 92 -96, rough times but i was at all the games. I dont mind new fans but dont act like you know more than the coach. ( although i do sometimes)

I wouldn't air it publically.

I'd pat him in back just like the bama guy and be proud he loved his team that much and understood what just happened.
Tremendous learning experience for a young kid.
Sometimes things don't go your way.

My Dad would tell me, word for word, "stop crying or I'll give you something to cry about!"

I saw that Bama kid crying to his dad. My son would be punished. Never cry over a loss.

I cried after every loss for the first two years I started actively watching.
Honestly don't remember what my Dad said or did cause I was genuinely crushed and tuning everything else.

I'd blame myself as a parent. Obviously the kid thinks he's expected to react like that according to what he's been taught in the home.
