No it isn't. Going to school is more important than playing football, so there can't be a situation where one school's team misses class four weeks in a row.

if it was that big an issue, every long road trip would result in a Saturday game...

Precisely my point. Home field isn't so big an issue to the LHSAA and its members that they feel the need to play all their games on Saturday. So it's no big deal.

I don't think it would take much effort to come up with a better system.

Assuming a 32-team bracket, I'd like to see the higher seed be the home team for the first two rounds, regardless of travel.

In the quarters, the higher seed should still be the home team UNLESS the opponent has traveled in each of the first two weeks.

In the semifinals, I'd like to see some of the state schools put to use. They are done with football by the first week in December anyways. You've got suitable stadiums in Ruston, Monroe, Natchitoches, Lake Charles, Lafayette, Hammond, Houma, and New Orleans. Pick the one closest to you and playball. If more than one high school wants to use a facility, make it a weekend event. I think it would be pretty cool to go to ULM and catch two or three high school semifinal games in a weekend.

Finally, the state championships can stay in the Superdome, but I'd also entertain the Cajundome in Lafayette as an alternative. It is certainly more centrally located and not nearly as big, so the championship games wouldn't have that cavernous feel that they do in the Dome.
