In basketball, the best thing you can do is find your open shots and, even then, it comes down to luck whether the ball goes in or not.
I do take issue with the fact that we decided to wait and run the play at the 10 second mark when we easily could've ran it earlier in the possession to atleast give us the opportunity to get a put back or foul GSW with some time still on the clock.
If the game were tied, obviously you want to wait for the last shot, but when you are trailing that late, you have to go for the lead as soon as possible and then handle the possible scenarios from there.
At least we looked so much better than last night, loss still hurts.

All of this.
I approve of the shot, and I'm good with not taking a timeout.
Running the clock down was a silly, inexcusable decision.

Agreed, people that think the shot was bad are dumb as shite. This one hurt. Smith was frustrating the hell out of me. Refs were garbage.

Would have been a good shot to take with 10 seconds left. Thatway, you can foul curry and if he hits both, you can still tie it with one 3.
If I'm gordon there, I drive the lane and jump and go for the layup/foul

Agreed.
It was a pretty good play. AD had 3 people swarming him on the roll and eg was wide fricking open. Can't complain about that.

This is silly. Results over process.
They worked a good shot. If he hits it, this post turns into "Great coaching to wait for the last shot so Curry has no time left." If they had gone early and he makes it "Fire Monty. They went too early and Curry had enough time to get off a shot to win." Or if they rush a shot and they miss "Fire Monty. Why did they rush the shot?"
Both taking a quick shot or waiting for the last one are valid strategies here. It's not an either/or proposition. The critique is only because he missed and they lost.

That was a damn good shot. It damn near came back In. I don't have a problem with it. We had a good shot to win.

With ~4 seconds left? frick no. They aren't gonna call a foul on that play and EG is not LeBron. Take the wide open 3 all fricking day.

It basically comes down to whether or not you want one shot to win/tie or two.
I'd prefer two.
I'd prefer two.

That's the shot they will give us all day up 1.... that was what they wanted us to take because it's the hardest to shoot

You do know that they wasted more time holding the ball at the top of the key than the actual play took, right?
I'm not advocating a rushed shot, rather run that same play much earlier in the possession so you atleast have some contingencies if the first shot is missed.

That is the time you run the best fricking play in your book. Pick and roll was a shitty call.

You're wishing for a different result. You believe that taking an earlier shot would mean a different result in the outcome of the game.
That's fine. And you may be correct. But that doesn't mean what happened was a poor decision. Letting the clock run down for a great last second shot is not a losing strategy.

It might not be a losing strategy, but it's not an elite strategy and it's not ray allen shooting the 3 either... Just an ok team this season with OK plays. Frustrating and frustrating that monty was ok with taking an okay shot.

Well no shite.

The chance of success is definitely higher.

Yeah it does, just like the Saints onside kick against the Colts was a poor decision. One worked, the other didn't.
Like I said at the beginning, it comes down to luck.
It was still a poor decision to let precious seconds tick off the clock when you're losing.

When you're down, it is certainly not the best strategy.
