Ya, they upped the annual fee to give the bigger bonus. From what I understand, the chip is sort of pointless since it is Chip and Signature, and not Chip and PIN, which is what all the foreign countries actually use. The chip will let you do some things overseas, but I don't get why they just didn't go all the way.
Chase Freedom jumped up to 20,000 points as well. Everyone who has a CSP should have a Freedom. If you applied for the card within the past 90 days when the bonus was 10k, send a secure message to Chase through your account and they will give you the extra 10k. I did that a few days ago on my fiancee's account.

So is my annual fee going up?

I haven't read anything claiming that is going to happen.
You can request the chip on your current card now and not pay any extra for it. But I can't see how they would keep these two separate fees for long.
Unless they are cool with the whole, one group pays more for the bigger bonus thing.

Ya, I would like a chip for the future, but apparently its pointless without it being PIN enabled.
My plans call for me getting out of the country once a year/two years so its not that BIG a deal to me either.

$125 a year a bit rich for my blood right now, but I'll certainly jump on the intro offer come the first of the year.
For those of you who have downgraded from CSP to CS, is it much of a hassle? Do they send you a new card with a new number, etc?

I can't imagine it being that difficult. They will have to issue a new card so the only hassle I can imagine it's not being able to use your preferred card while the regular card is in the mail. You'll wait one business week in that scenario, and you should have other cards anyways.
I get more annoyed waiting on cards I just got approved for. I get so excited.

Where do you see 50k points? Only seeing 40K on my end.

Offer for 50K points for $3K spend over 3 months; Annual Fee waived first year, $125 thereafter. Extra 5K for adding additional cardholder.

Now that I've thought about it, I don't really get this tiered promotion. Large sign up bonuses draw in card jumpers who likely aren't going to stick around. Raising the annual fee means even fewer of those people will decide that the card has value and keep it.
Can someone explain this logic to me?

They are trying to get people to sign up for the pinned version. Some people really want pinned cards these days. They just released it a few days ago.

I'd say the logic is the same as all CC issuers. They hope the spend that 3k real fast, keep spending, get in over their heads and pay interest each month.

I'm talking specifically about the two current tiers. If you take a lower sign up bonus, you'll have a lower annual fee. If you opt for a larger annual fee (and are therefore less likely to keep the card next year when you'd actually have to pay that fee) we'll give you a larger sign up bonus.

Is the 50k promo no longer running? The link shows the 40k offer for me
