I agree that Rivers deserves more time, but being apoplectic after Monty did what you wanted is bit strange to me.

Was based on the observation that the situation is getting more frustrating to people by the game. I fail to see how this is any different from the Marcus situation. Marcus would occasionally play, people in the arena would go nuts, then we wouldn't see him for 5 game stretches. It is starting to seem like deja vu is the point of the whole thread. It is starting to happen...again. Rivers comes in. People cheer. Rivers leaves the game. People cheer. It's that simple.

I suppose it's possible that Pierre does funny dance moves and gets the crowd going at the exact time the events happen and I am just missing it. Or, people just want them some more AR.

Look at their rookie PERs.

Rivers comes in.

People cheered when Charlie Thompson came in the game. I bet people cheer when Withey comes in the game, too.

Or you are just wanting it to reaffirm your own opinion.

And this is where I think we're disagreeing. Maybe you aren't being as negative as I'm picking up, but I don't see this as anything close to Marcus Thornton.

Marcus Thornton was

1) Local
2) Was unique on the roster in his skillset as a competent wing scorer and was something that had been on most fans wish lists for years.
3) Was a scorer in a league where fans value offense more than defense.
4) There were enough holes on the roster that the argument wasn't just that he should get more minutes, but that he should be starting.
5) The media cared about Marcus Thornton getting minutes.

Rivers is at best 4th on the guard depth chart, not 2nd. The things he is best at currently are defense and ball protection. I will give him play creation too, but 2 of the 3 things he currently does well don't get most fans excited.

Do most people want Rivers more than Roberts? I think they do. Are they willing to "get ugly" over who gets the 5th guard minutes? I think you may have taken a concept most could agree on, Rivers should get more time, and Alejandroed it with over the top inflammatory rhetoric. That may not have been the direction you were trying to go, but I think that's what happened here.

After 4 DNP-CDs, Rivers has played 12, 15, 14, 7, and 11 minutes the last 5 games.

Given that he is at best the 5th guard behind Holiday, Gordon, Evans, and Morrow this isn't an unusual amount of playing time.

Monty corrected two of his biggest weaknesses- he adjusted mid game and he made a smart rotation choice!!!- and it's still not good enough.

If you want this to be about Thornton, I'm checking out. Thornton just had back to back DNP-CDs in Sacramento. Maybe Monty texted his boy Mike Malone and told him to sit Marcus for old time's sake?
