Firing Monty now probably accomplishes nothing. It probably makes the situation worse.

You give him until the All-Star Break unfortunately, or you just stick the season out with him. Then can him.

Most likely you aren't going to get Karl mid-season, so its best to wait it out.

It's so bad I honestly am not even sure if this statement is accurate. I'm not so sure that playing street ball is that much worse than playing Monty ball considering the talent we have on this roster.

Unless we're replacing him with an Assistant or Avery Johnson, I don't really see how it could be worse than what we have seen/are going to keep seeing. Monty does not get this team amped. He is an inept game manager, inept scheme creator, and an inept motivator. Our team lacks the level of faith or camaraderie that a properly coached team should have. It just seems like the guys at the end of the bench celebrate out of habit more than out of actual unity. The 5 that are on the court are always making plays and gaining momentum outside of any set scheme. They are the reason we are holding significant leads in ALL but 2 or 3 games up until now. I understand this team is newly assembled, but it seems very telling that the passion is absent in Monty and that the team has a hard time producing consistently. They have far too little leadership--the primary attribute of any coach. Monty acts as if being head coach is just a job to him, nothing more. Think about ANY time you have heard him talk. Did he appear to be the type of coach that would inspire you, make you believe in the plan for the team, get you pumped for the game? No. A resounding no. He is a monotonous, below-average coach. Probably a great assistant, just nothing like what an NBA coach should be.

It sucks, because this team has serious potential that is being written off by cliff-jumpers. We are (1) average-defending, sharpshooting SF and (1) average head coach away from being--at the very least--a shoe-in 8th seed. There is no doubt in my mind.

All that being said, the FO will wait until faith has reached the breaking point--both in the locker room and in the arena--until making a move, thereby potentially compounding the difficulty of the task at hand for Monty's successor. I just don't want the guys we have to lose faith in this franchise. EG is a huge provider of in-game momentum (second only to Davis), and if he gets apathetic (which we all know how easy THAT is for him), the other pieces are going to follow his lead much more than Monty's.
