Silverchair was insanely talented for their age

They were just kids (14 years old) in April 1994 when this video won a contest put on by a local radio station. Someone working for Sony heard about it and signed them to a 3-album deal that year. The first album, Frogstomp, was released March 1995 while the band members were still 15 years old. It sold 2.5 million copies worldwide.
It's crazy to think kids that age could produce music that good. Most 13-15 year olds can't sharpen a pencil correctly. And the lead singer Daniel Johns, despite writing dark lyrics in Frogstomp about murder, suicide, anger, abuse, etc. apparently had a happy childhood and two parents who stayed married. Apparently he got a lot of his lyrical ideas from watching TV.
An even earlier version (1993) of eventual hit Tomorrow
(posted about Silverchair in the Music board but it's pretty quiet over there)

ETA: I also would like to say I fricking love the frogstomp CD. Everything after that for them doesn't come close to that CD.
