Get this through your heads:
Saban is NOT leaving Alabama. All of tis talk of Texas and his maybe not wanting to coach much longer is just preparing Alamaba for a nice raise. The talk will get louder as the season ends.

Question: What do you think are the 2 or 3 major changes that Les needs to make to catch up to Alabama and keep ahead of Auburn, Ole Miss and Texas A&M?
1.) Renewed emphasis on recruiting. Up the budget, get rid of Emsinger, bring in a top notch recruiter to help out Frank. No one can dispute the troubling trend of the best 2 or 3 players in the state looking to go elsewhere.
2.) Time for Stud to move on. His player development and overall coaching hasn't been up to par. It's just time for a new perspective on things.
3.) Train in the offseason like we did for the Oregon game in the summer of 2011. Run the hurry up, push the players to be conditioned. I think that set the tone for the year and the difficult schedule we had. I haven't seen anything like that the past 2 years.

good stuff. I agree that the Rant and Tiger Fans in general need to chill out. We all knew this was going to be a down year, and hell half of us predicted that it would be, so I don't know why some of us are jumping off the cliff because we have 3 losses...
New OL coach...and slap Chief in the offseason and remind him that he isn't at Tennessee, so stop calling the defense as predictably as he did at UT that got him fired. He's slipping into that old mode again.
Geaux Tigers! Let's win out and kick the shite outta whoever we play in the bowl game!

I'm curious. Why Ensminger? What inside knowledge do you have of his coaching on the field abilities and contibutions to the game plans to warrant this position?
Thank you.

He said he wasn't leaving LSU and then later said he wasn't going to BAMA before bolting out of Miami. That's all I am saying.
Who knows if he leaves or not. Only time will tell. But we do know he has a past history of saying one thing and then doing the opposite when he is going to be paid more money.

Play the best athletes on defense. They might miss an assignment here or there, but they will also make more game changing plays.
According to CLM just a few weeks ago:
quote:
“I think our defense has always been a confident unit,” Miles said. “They just needed to get some things in place. This will be a team that athletically will eventually be one of the more talented defenses that we’ve had.”

It's all cyclical. LSU will be back on top in a year or so. LSU is still pretty close to the top of the heap. One 3rd and 4 play last year would have made LSU the MNC last year.

My biggest take from this season thus far is that we are getting our asses kicked in the trenches. No matter who we play or OL and DL are getting pushed around all over the field. I believe if any changes should be made it needs to to start there.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Chicken! Well said!
Think back to all of the great dynasties in every major sport - it's impossible to sustain that level of success. As mentioned in the thread I started last night, it's both a gift and a curse to a program. Alabama is looking at many years of mediocrity ahead, while LSU will remain an elite program for decades, winning 3 or more national championships in that span.
We have our best years ahead of us, folks!

The last time I checked, this country is supposedly a free nation where people can theoretically do what they want to do for a living. If he wants to go coach at the Barn, then more power to him.

When Nick does leave, what will happen to Les? He is only 2 years younger. I am not bashing our coach, but if fans complain that he does not make in game adjustments, what happens when he is older and losing his wits?

I think you're missing the point...

It is a cycle.

1. Saban won't be there forever.
Hinging your program hopes on whether or not the team you compete with retires or goes into a bad cycle, is in itself a bad omen for LSU.

what if CLM retires in 7 years?
educate me on why bama has imminent mediocrity ahead, while we will taste consistent riches?
I'm not disagreeing with you; I just don't understand your argument. You sound like you're just waiting for Saban's retirement as if it will unlock wild success for LSU

Pretty stupid comment. In your lifetime, you'll never see LSU pass Bama in wins/losses. I think one of the reasons fans hate Bama is that Bama always comes back. During the dark DuBose/Franphony/Price/Shula years, Bama was on its back. Guess what? Bama's back.
And it will be the same with LSU shortly.

I've only got one. Bring back Ron Cooper and his ball hawking DBs. Is he still DB coach at S Fla? Surely TAF can outbid the Bulls.
The lack of timely turnovers still feels strange when watching the Tigers.

Like Miles did at LSU?
