What is your view on the new LHSAA playoff system?

Do you like it or not? Do you think it was a good or bad move?
I gotta say I like the idea of what they are trying to do, but how it came together kind of sucks. The Division II bracket is ridiculous!!! U High, Curtis, Evangel, Parkview, Notre Dame and St. Thomas More all in one bracket!!! That's a lot of talented teams. I think that bracket is hands down the toughest one, with plenty of prized recruits across it. I think they need to rename the Division I bracket to "The Catholic League plus a few". What all do you guys think?

don't like it. some select schools can lose every game and still make the playoffs. Gives no credibilty to going to the playoffs in that instance.

the new playoffs is crap! this is all because the public schools are mad at John Curtis and Evangel. Meanwhile, Barbe and West Monroe are two of the biggest recruiting schools along with them, and not one word is said.
i have noticed something, private schools support their teams with fans in the stands, while a lot of these smaller towns don't go out to the games, especially if it's out of town. Money is made at the gate, and the private schools will get richer playing each other, while the public schools are cutting their own noses off to spite them.

I don't know anyone who approves of this new system, outside of the LHSAA people.

The non select bracket has to many teams. Eliminate one round or give more byes.

Don't worry, the LHSAA will either have to change it back or the private schools will bolt.

Break it down for me. What new format did they apply?

It's a freaking joke. Teams opting out, so bye games are scattered throughout, divisions where every team gets in, winless or not. A complete farce, and I hope Winnfield gets their asses kicked early so I can LOL at the witch that caused all this.

LHSAA went "full retard" on this one

I think if you would take a poll of public school coaches in all sports, they would be in favor of a split. The legislature can't take over the LHSAA. The only way they can have an impact is by dictating what schools do if they receive public funds. BESE has already stated that they do not want anything to do with overseeing athletics which is what would happen if the legislature would try to get involved.

It stinks. Most of this has to do with programs like Curtis, Evangel, etc. If the LHSAA had the courage to enforce the rules these programs could be brought under control. I think it is interesting that no Catholic schools are in the larger playoff brackets; this is ridiculous. Rummel is the only team on the 5a level that has won a championship in a long while; so these teams are not elite. Jesuit and Holy Cross haven't won a championship in about 50 years. Brother Martin won in the 1970's. I don't know if St. Aug has won anything since the 1980's. Where is the elitism in this. I admit that some of these schools do go after good athletes, but a number of public schools do that also. Just do what Lusher did and freeze the Patriots and Eagles and teams like them out.

To put schools that recruit, i.e. private/catholic schools in the same division as the public schools that supposedly can't recruit is just plain stupid. All it accomplishes is that the private schools win more championships.
Case in point, our oldest daughter played high school softball and "ONE" year they had a really good team. They lost to the eventual state champion that was a private school by two runs twice in the playoffs. The private school went on to ten-run everybody else they played. Their headmaster admitted to me that they recruited and had essentially an all-star team. What that did was prevent a public school who played what they had in their district from winning a championship that rarely comes their way.
Putting public/private teams in the playoffs together is just fundamentally chickenshite.
