I can honestly say I have never heard of a Tisas.

Google says they are a Turkish gun company, probably a reason they are 600, you could get a nice used 1911 from a more reputable company for around this price

If you've heard of or handled a IAC import 1911 then you handled a Tisas more than likely. The company is a medium sized small arms supplier to countries in that part of the world. There's nothing wrong with them in the no-frills GI 1911A1 category. Much like an RIA. Turks build pretty decent guns these days for the money. If you just want something to sling .45 ACP then go for it.

Obviously lower end firearms, but still not a bad deal.
If purchased for self defense purposes, lower end firearms are almost always a bad deal.

Glock seems to be doing ok nevertheless.

I hope so -- I carry one 24/7.
I don't consider Glocks to be "lower end" self defense firearms. They fall in the price range that one would pay for an M&P, some newer domestic SIGS, some Berettas, or even an XD. But price isn't the only determinent.
I'd be perfectly confortable with a $250 Glock or M&P for self defense (assuming I'd have a chance to inspect it).
I consider Turkish & Philipino defensive handguns (and plenty of domestic handguns, such as Kel-Tecs) to be in the "lower end" category. irrespective of price.

Glock went from being the "affordable every day carry" to the most time - tested, and dependable pistol known.
Even the 1911ers now claim the safe action pistols to be accurate and dependable.
But the best part is that they have held at around 500 $ for years now.

Sure. Go ahead and tell us the brand that you believe in. but gen three glocks outnumber every other brand in the gun store cases for a reason.

1911 FTMFW....... When a Glock hits 100yrs old and still slinging lead then we will talk time tested dependability
Fwiw I am a glock fan but don't bullshite yourself in to thinking it's more time tested than a good 1911
