Disagree that LSU should not try. This OL and JH33 ran well on them last year and they are not as good as last year. Pretty much agree with the rest.

One weakness Bama has is their untested team and mindset. They have got to have some doubt in their minds because they know they have not had any tough games and they have not looked that good against their cupcake schedule so if we can get in to the back half of the game with the lead or even we can get in their head...

3-5 sacks? Alabama is one of the worse in the sec in sacks. They rank 100 with 11 on the season. LSU has 20 and is ranked 22nd

For the most part, they haven't needed to sack anybody given their creampuff schedule.

But we know, and they know, Mett is slow afoot and they'd rather try to sack him than play coverage.

The 3-5 sack guesstimate is based on him hopefully going down and taking a sack before risking interceptions.

What's the best running team they have faced thus far this season?

out of:

Va Tech
aTm
Colorado State
Ole Miss
Ga State
Kentucky
Arkansas
Tenn

All laughable. How do we know for a fact they can stop a decent running attack, when they have yet to play one?

Pass no more then 15 times, Run the ball up the middle, make them unable to stop you, lock them down defensively oh and don;t fricking play prevent defense with 1 mintues and 30 second left on the clock!

It's not so much their stellar run defense, but how LSU has struggled against teams lined up to stop our run. Just about everybody has done just that if they chose to load the box, why would Bama be any different?

And LSU is sure to try and run the ball at first, just saying don't be stubborn and let a few 3 and outs take us out of the game early.

Agreed. Bama's MO is to jump on you early, if we wait three series to figure out shite we may be down 14 or 17 points. throw early, its going to be man coverage and it keeps us in it early, I hope.

Bama will commit to stopping the run and try and make us 1-d. UGA did the same thing. It's a solid strategy when you're at home.

I think our OC is keen enough to pick-up on what Bama's giving us, where we have matchup advantages and to make'em pay.

I would sum it up as we can't waste downs or possessions, attack, plan on throwing on 1st down.

I do agree with this.
It's essentially what they did to us in the BCS championship game...........and we were not prepared for it, even though we still basically held them to field goals all game.

If we come out establishing the pass FIRST, they'll probably not be ready for that.

look on the bench and find who the tight ends are. put them in game and throw ball to them.

also ruuun the ball to control time of possession and keep ball away from McCaron and Cooper. Lsu MUST score on all red zone possessions, not just FG's but TD's. Sounds simple I know, but..you know.

Hill and Magee have to have the best games of their career if LSU is to win this game.

Anybody watch last years game? The exact same game plan that worked last year will work this year. Everyone in this thread somehow thinks our coaching staff is oblivious to the obvious. (hmmm...that might make a good tee shirt)

Last year the staff did a fine job mixing up the run and the pass with great success. Why our ever pessimistic fan base seems to think they won't do the same thing is beyond me.

my biggest fear about this game is that Miles and Co. also believe this. A bunch of three and outs early in the game while trying to establish the run will get us in a big hole quick. It's not a good game plan for LSU against anyone but especially against a team like Alabama.

agreed but i didnt have 3 and outs in mind...i was thinking that LSU would have success establishing a run game, having success at short passes with TE;s, and scoring 21 on first 3 possessions heading into 2nd quarter. Being dominant offensively becuase it wont happen on defense.

I hope you're right. Mett throws the ball at will again and the D makes like 6 consecutive stops in the 2nd half to set up a winnable finish.

But, doesn't Bama have the same exact tapes of that game as LSU does?

Will all this strategy talk be moot, and we see a game similar to last year for the most part?

Possibly, hell all the strategies, on both sides, may end up cancelling eachother out and we do end up with a carbon copy of last year.

I doubt that though. Not with CC on board now.

This game will have a different feel, flow to it.
