Nope. Just the part you quoted in the OP. that's the point you're trying to make right?

current state of the program if the coaches weren't paid as much as they are

the season ticket holders didn't have to pay as much as they do to have season tickets.

Save the excuses for Miles. This is one of the only sports in america where certain teams are supposed to kick the shite out of other teams. "Parity" is a media term and is not real. Ole Miss was beaten down and had no business playing with a prepared LSU team much less beating them.
As far as the rest of that shite, meh. I dont really get into telling people what they should do and dont want people telling me what to do. I enjoy LSU football, but a loss to Ole Miss ruins the season for me. You want to make excuses for them, be my guest...I wont judge you for it, so dont judge me for my reaction.

Good. Then don't watch our next four games.

Not necessarily. The costs of season tickets is part of the cost of success. The only way my tickets are going back to LSU is if I die or go broke. I can pay for my tickets and bitch about losing to Ole Miss and no one can take either one away from me. 'Murica!

I am guessing there would be less fervor regarding the current state of the program if the coaches weren't paid as much as they are, and the season ticket holders didn't have to pay as much as they do to have season tickets.
This plus Bama plus Bama having our old coach plus the BCS being invented in the first place.
Before the BCS, you had controversies over the "national champion" but since it was more mythical than fact the decades before, "winning it all" wasn't as big a deal as it is today (not to say it wasn't a big deal at all).
The BCS created a real tangible national title every year. This led to those soaring coaching salaries and tickets. It also lowered the value of winning traditional rivalries or your conference title.
We could win a few SEC titles the next 7 years and our fans (and other schools as well) would be furious that an NC didn't come with it.
Heightened expectations caused by a mechanism to crown a national champion, devaluing every bowl game but one, every achievement but one, with our old coach at a familiar school achieving that goal over and over is a lot to happen in less than a decade.

What I do should be of no worry to you.

For me, anyway, it's because I'm a creature of habit and love seeing the game from the exact same vantage point week after week, and because I've made some good friends who sit next to me.
That, and I like KNOWING I have tickets and hate the uncertainty (small though it may be) of not getting into the game.

This is all because of the success Alabama is having. If we were in the East right now, we would have all our goals in front. Fact is, we want to compete for championships and they are outperforming us. Competitive programs strive for more than Chick-fil-a bowls.

Did you miss the part where we had a chance to win the SEC and lost to Ole Miss?

I just wonder what the fans of teams that are upset in games do for the rest of the season and in the years following?
Mizzou fans just pack it in?
Bama fans not follow the 2009 season after losing to Utah?

A lotta folks here who didn't read the article

I usually respect what is written on ATVS, but frankly that article is neither insighful nor thoughtful. It was merely a repitition of bromides and amounted to same old tedius lecture admonishing LSU fanatics to stop being so gosh-darn serious about LSU football. It's just a game, a hobby, and so on.
I find it particularly ironic that the admonition comes from someone who regularly writes lengthy disquisitions about LSU football on a blog devoted almost exclusively to that topic.
Worst of all, the post fails to lucidly address the real cause of the fans' unrest: predictability. Miles is what he is. We can debate which modifier to append to that state (mediocre, good, great, or something more nuanced), but the state appears fixed. When Miles had to be restrained from calling a post-turnover timeout in 2005, one might hope that it was the product of a new coach's momentary excitement. But when he continues to botch obvious timeouts eight years later, one can safely assume it's a permament flaw. When LSU came out unprepared for Kentucky in 2007, one could still reasonably argue it was an aberration. When playing down to lesser opponents becomes an almost annual occurence, hope begins to sour into delusion. And so on. Miles is in stasis as a coach. He doesn't appear to be improving. That makes LSU football predictable, which in turn breeds fatigue, indifference, and -- yes -- anger.
As I said long ago, as an LSU fan who wants to win more national championships, one can only hope that Miles somehow improves and allows us to become ascendant in the SEC West. Such a result appears to be in jeopardy. Naturally, people are disappointed and angry. When the outcome of the season appears to be a fait accompli, the entire exercise becomes less interesting and more frustrating.
All of this being said, I'll still follow the team through thick and thin, I'll still faithfully buy my season tickets, and travel to away games, and wear my colors, and tout LSU to all comers, and express my passion. But you'll have to excuse me if I get upset when we throw away a chance at the SEC title by playing piss-poor football against Ole Miss back-up scrubs. If you don't get angry when we lose, you can't claim jubilation when we win.

I like the BCS system in crowing a champion, but I its pretty clear its basically devalued every single bowl in the public perception over time as its existed. That's nation wide.
LSU has the added "bonus" of our old coach doing the most difficult thing in the sport over and over like he's taking a routine piss.
