I just hope our defensive philosophy (of turning LB'er prospects to ends) doesn't do to Beckwith what it did to Maclin's career.

prob not, i just dont think beckwith has the size to play DE, nor did Maclin, Maclin was a 4 Star LB out of Tennesse and had great LB size, maybe he was too slow, not sure, and I dont put a ton into star ratings but obviously it was his natural position...I still think our Middle LB should be a bigger physical run stopper, that attacks the hole, especially with the RB's we have in the SEC. Maclin may could have filled this void this year..I understand Chavis likes the smaller "hybrid" LB's because of their speed, they are mostly FS's who have put on a few lbs, but last time I checked bama's 250LB LB's could run preatty good as well...(and yes I know its a totally different 3-4 defense)
