More teams are running the spread no-a-days and Chavis hasn't shown the ability to consistently defend against teams who run spread offenses. It's not just this season, it's been a trend now for the past few years.

I absolutely think so.

Chavis's defense here has been supplied by some ridiculous talent. But when that talent leaves, the scheme is exposed. It's just not a good scheme anymore.

Third and CHavis has been a familiar term since he was at UT and since being at LSU. We need a change there, and please GET RID OF STUD. He is a below average OL coach. I'm not even getting into his recruiting efforts.

This is by far the least talent he has had at LSU. Could be one of the least talented defenses he has ever had as a DC in the SEC.

Why do people keep trying to pin the blame on Chavis? The players were in position most of the time Saturday, they were just incapable of coming up with timely stops.

He should have been on the hot seat after the Alabama loss last year. The fact is, this D looks only slightly better today than it did the first game of the season. That tells me its gained experience, but is not responding to coaching.
It really is a concern that he HAS to have elite NFL type players on his defense to succeed.

When we lose it is 100% on Miles.

When we win the credit can be given to both Cam and Chavis.

Dude we lost literally the whole defense besides freak ego, Loston barrow mills. If you think we can replace all the underclassmen who left and the seniors your crazy.

Well, being that in LSU's last four losses, all four opponents scored on their last drives of the game to win.
I think Miles needs to go for the kill like he did against Miss. State. I'd rather be accused of running up the score than losing in the final seconds to inferior opponents.
He could have done the same thing against Ole Miss as he did against State if he would have just given the ball to Hill 30 times.

That is insane he is a great coach just having an off year with a very young defense and horrible lb play

Hell No! There are going to be games and seasons where we don't have one of the best defenses in the country. When that happens, our offense (which has some of the best talent in the country every year) needs to step up.

Our defense did enough as a whole on Saturday. The offense should have had 3 or 4 touchdowns before the end of the 3rd quarter... at least.

Chavis' defense is what carried the team 2009-2012. In that time LSU played good offenses from Ark, Oregon, WV, Florida, Clemson etc and the defense did enough to win all those games.

Chavis stops spread offenses as good as anyone but Saban so I'm happy to give him a pass this year.

Not sure if serious but Chavis shouldn't be on any type of hot seat. Coaches can't control players efforts. That is our issue not scheme or talent. Go back and look some players aren't giving it all they have. Sad truth our the recruiting services and all our coaches got it very wrong on some players.
