I am sympathetic to the OP. But he has over thought it.

There are only three things that were learned last night.

1) Sometimes 19 year-old kids take the night off. It is inexplicable why they do. They are 19 or 20 or 21. When your team does this you probably will lose - especially on the road in the SEC.

2) If the QB throws 3 interceptions and your team scores no points in a half of any SEC game your team is going to lose nearly all the time. This has always been true. What else is new?

3) If your Defense cannot consistently defend 3 and 15 3 and 9 3 and 8 then your team will lose.

We learned nothing new about our team. They are incredibly young on defense.

Why are so many people surprised?

Why are so many ready to quit on the team and the coaches?

It stinks they lost a winnable game, but nearly every team does.

I chose to love being an LSU fan and look for the team to improve as it matures on the defensive side of the ball.

I disagree. I think the biggest thing we learned was that our defense of the previous 1.5 games was really an enigma more than a change in direction.

Knowing that I still think Bama game could be pretty tight, but Les has got to get back to the "sling it" style offense that kept us in the Bama game last year. A&M will be a shite-show that will make fans of LSU's defensive prowess over the previous 10 years want to curl up in a fetal position in a dark corner somewhere.
