Definitely in the argument
But I think their argument is tarnished by a few week schedules on their NC runs

he problem people have saying Bama was the better team because of 21-0 is the fact remains that despite that game, LSU had a better record and SEC title. Bama won the NC that year, but the fact they couldn't defend their actual home turf against LSU earlier in the season proves they weren't the best hands down.
With everything in their favor they lost.
We've been playing better AWAY from BDS for years now.

hen they had an advantage (more rest, easier overall schedule, and more time to plan for LSU), they won.
Bama fans didn't get mad that ND had an extra week last year, and you act like you know Bama used that week to prepare for a game they didn't even know they'd be playing.

That said, this Bama team has nothing on that Nebraska run.
I concur, as of right now.

2011 - PSU finished unranked, and no SEC CG.
They deserve a pass. They weren't the same team after the Sandusky stuff.

Oh look, a hindsight argument. Who should have been there in our place?
No one. Bama/LSU were the two best teams. It is the two BEST, not the second best and a team that beat up on the Big XII and lost to a weak team.

USC was favored in 58 consecutive games from 2003 to 2007, the longest streak in the BCS era. Matt Leinart and the Trojans were 3.5 pt underdogs at Auburn in the 2003 season opener and it wasn’t until a road trip to Eugene in 2007 they were dogged again."
I think this is great, BUT USC also failed to win when it mattered most. Say what you want but during that span they ONLY WOn 1 title. AND the 2008 USC team was the best of the bunch.

Did we deserve to get our butts kicked? Why or why not?
YES. It was all about gameplan and who made adjustments from the 1st game. Bama did and LSU did not. Its pretty simple.

I may not have seen this in this thread but Fla St. Finished in the top 5 for like 13 straight seasons. I have to believe NO program can say this.

if its the best, then Urban Meyer's run at Florida has to be in the top 3-5

Not even close. Urban Meyer's run at Florida lasted a grand total of 4 seasons. Alabama is on season #6 and I count this season because it's very unlikely we lose more than 2 games this year.

Schedule and luck. They are a mulligan and 1:30 from not having won the SEC west since 2009.

Meyer 61-15 in 6 seasons 2 national titles
Saban 68-13 in his first 6 seasons 3 national titles
thats not close? lol

Its probably the best 5 year run in SEC history (maybe equaled by their early 60s run).
Top two or three nationally. Hurt by having only one unbeaten year, but that might be offset a bit by playing in the strongest conference and not splitting any titles like Nebraska did. A title this year would probably seal the deal, though.

And to be fair, Once TEBOW left Urban began to feel the heat.

Okie St. should have been there. But HEY IF LSU was THAT great a team they should have smoked Bama the 2nd time. Saban outcoached Miles. Its pretty simple. All that garbage about having to play them again is a SORRY excuse.FACT.
