this.

but honestly, would the flash really fit the theme this show has set up for the finally? hes such a more upbeat and "bright" (no pun intended) character.

im digging the despair they are putting Ollie through. I think the flash could easily take all of that away. I'm really thinking this season ends on a low note for Oliver and sets up a lot of obstacles for him to overcome in season 3

eta: after just typing "season 3" i cant believe this show only has 2 seasons. does it feel like its been on forever to anyone else?

I agree completely. At this point, its pretty obvious that Ollie already has and will continue to experience great loss before he defeats Slade.

You don't come out of an experience like that with a cheery attitude and positive outlook on life.

You can't have the debut of the tv Flash in that kind of atmosphere.

It probably feels like its been on longer since its a network show with 23 episode seasons (w/very few pure filler episodes) in an era where so many of us are used to watching cable and premium cable shows that only get 10-16 episode seasons. It also helps that the tone has changed dramatically over the course of the series. All soap opera love triangle stuff and diary like narrations by Oliver this show used to be about are a distant memory.

Before we watched this episode I had just got done telling my GF about how Isabel Rochev is a crazy arse that wears Ollie's dead mom's wedding ring in the comics.

Then Moira all the sudden bonds with Ollie telling him she knows and my GF got all pissed and was like "Did you see a spoiler or something? Why the hell is she being nice and understanding like this? This is how she died in the comics isn't it?"

Then when it actually went down I was the shocked one while she was expecting it b/c I thought the odds of me mentioning Moira is dead in the comics and it actually happening that very day were so ridiculously low that there was no way it would happen.

Considering season 1 ended with Tommy dying and the Glades getting leveled, we know that they aren't scared to have the hero fail to an extent.

I could definitely see it end with him broke, Thea (his only living immediate relative) hating him, Sarah either gone or dead, and Diggle & Falicity having to find other jobs since he can't afford to keep them employed. So it ending with his life in shambles wouldn't surpise me a bit.

Well, they did put multi-week breaks all throughout this season.

Here is a link to a preview for next week: Preview
Notice who Diggle is asking to help find Oliver.

Here is a link to the promotional photos for next week episode also (I'm going to go ahead and drop a spoilers warning in here): Promotional photos
