I don't get free agency/arbitration. JHey asked for $5.5/year...Braves offered $5.2/year...and they settle for $6.65/year and have to negotiate again in 2 years? Help me on why this is a good move for the Braves...I'm admittedly dumb when it comes to this kind of stuff.

Either JHey wanted more money and the only way they would pay him more was less years, or JHey wanted more years and they wouldn't give it to him, but gave him more money for less years

Even a decent season and he would be looking at 8-9M in arb next year.

This is probably pretty close to fair, with maybe a slight Braves win. The bigger news is avoiding arb both years. That could potentially really strain the relationship and damage the chances of an extension.

It's a good move for the Braves because we now have him happy and signed for 2 more years at a great value.
