How does this fiasco affect the O&G industry? More importantly how BESE moves forward with permits, and granting extensions to companies operating in Federal waters?
Will the govt' halt drilling operations because it's regulatory office is shutdown?

The EIA is done reporting storage for oil and gas as of this week. It will have an impact on oil and natural gas prices next week if nothing is resolved. How it will impact it is an unknown. Historically oil inventories post on Wednesdays and natural gas on Thursdays...except holiday weeks.
I'm sure all LNG permitting, other product exporting, and as well as the permitting discussed in this thread are the others impacted.

Interior Department has stopped processing drilling permits and leasing both onshore and offshore.
I actually kind of feel bad for them. There were some pretty reasonable and experienced permit guys before Macondo, which brought a major shitstorm down on the whole agency as a scapegoat (thanks Obama). Then some of the experienced ones left and the rest take it from both ends (industry and govt).
