That this season is shaping up to be another 2008. A potent offense and a porous defense all over again.

No, it isn't.

LSU's offense has a good coordinator, a veteran QB who has great chemistry with his receivers, unlike in 2008.

You're acting like LSU just fricking lost by 30 points like they did to Tebow. Everyone knows the defense isn't the same, but it's not going to give up 40+ points every damn game.

Believe me, I would take 2008 right now. The 2008 defense was ten times better than this one. It had talent, but no coaching. That is way better than coaching with no talent. Why we are wasting scholarships on these defensive players is a mystery. It's just typical Louisiana stupidity.

The fact that this year's Georgia game turned out nothing like that year's game is fine by me. That loss hurt much worse. Pick six to start the game? That really quieted the Tiger Stadium atmosphere quickly.

As I've said in several threads, it isn't as bad. In '08, the entire situation was awful so it was just terrible from start to finish. This defense just makes inexperienced mistakes. Let's not forget, though, that when their backs were against the wall a drive before when the entire Score Board was saying it was over, they got the stop they needed. The next time they didn't. It happens. Georgia scoring is not surprising against this defense.

I just remember seeing how dysfunctional everyone was in '08, the players included. It's like no one had any idea what they were supposed to do. I'd rather see younger guys messing up trying to execute the plan than veteran talent messing up everything with a scheme that couldn't stop a peewee team from looking like they were the Saints offense.

How does this make any sense? Do you remember what that talent did? Matt Stafford was literally sitting on the sidelines in Tiger Stadium having laughs and relaxing in mist all game. It's much better to have inexperienced talent developing than talent that is completely incompetent. That's why 5 star athletes go to colleges and end up busts. In college, talent is developed in 99% of cases. People like Manziel or Gurley come along, but they're rare. This defense isn't worse, and the talent is definitely there. It's just a bunch of inexperienced players thrown in all at once so it looks worse.

Except this offense is going to bail out the shitty defense as opposed to putting it in an even bigger hole. And this defense will get better as the year goes on, I have no doubt. I'd rather be worried now about not playing as well then get to November and look back on September wishing we hadn't peaked so early.
