My 1970 rem 1100 will not cycle low brass (1 oz) dove loads . Gun is very clean. Anyone got a suggestion for a dove load this gun will shoot?

As stated o ring. I had the same problems with mine. Shot the Winchester Texas loads this year and never had a problem.

The gas port may be clogged.

Try the Texas loads as I mentioned. Mine wouldn't shuck shells even after new ring but did fine dove hunting and I put 5 boxes through it without a problem

Can't believe it lasted this long shooting low brass.

Does it say magnum anywhere on the barrel? If so it is not made to eject low power shells. I have a seperate barrel to shoot low brass shells. I have tried multiple varieties of dove loads and none will cycle in the magnum barrel.

Been here before. There is build up between the bolt and the reciever. (On the bottom of the top of the reciever, above the bolt. You have to remove the bolt to clean it, not just slide it back.

Had the same problem a few weeks ago. Took it to my local gun shop, and it cycled fine in the back of the shop . The gunsmith asked me if I was shooting "cheap" steel shells. I was and he recommended some Rio brand. Got them and it works fine.
