Yes he is. Here

with both teams at 60-100% capacity, the Lakers have the better roster.

and here

The Lakers are more experienced and have greater depth at nearly every position.

The Lakers have greater depth at 2 positions- PG and C. And PG is pretty close. LA is a team built around three players whose combined age is 107 and are all coming off injuries. The rest of their roster is floatsam.

LA could make a playoff run, but they are not clearly better than the Pelicans just from looking at the rosters, as this article does.

The Howard deal was a disaster, but maybe there is addition by subtraction there.

Off the court, sure. But even a pouting, injured Howard was pretty damn good last season. They will miss his production big time. And you could easily flip this to the Pels and Gordon. He will be happy to play w/ his friends Jrue/Evans and will play better

Look it is certainly a fluff peace for LA in the offseason. With that being said he it should be a close race for these two teams if Kobe is healthy. I am not sold on Monty coaching late game situations and LA knows how to finish. They also finished way ahead of us last year.

NOLA will never get the respect LA gets even if we win the next 5 ships.
