Yes. Wisconsin's kicker is terrible.

Nothing will beat the Oklahoma - Oregon on-side kick game which I was at.
Wow, you were there? I still say that is the single worst call I have ever seen - both on the field and from the replay booth.

If he's a terrible coach, I'll take that over the trash that's coached ASU the last 15 years.
Bruce Snyder says hi.
Do you really want me to continue with the list of frick-ups from that game?
Here's a thought, take the holding penalty late. At that point in the game it's a field position battle.
You never EVER go for two at that point in the game, you ALWAYS take the single point because you never know how the score is going to work out late.
You always take the points, going for it on fourth down early in the game...stupid beyond stupid.
How many dropped passes does it take before you bench your wide receiver.
That was a terrible job of coaching...he should thank the football gods that wisconsin had a pretty shitty quarterback or else he'd have some 'splaining to do.
Stanford is going to pound them.

I'm in ballscaster's corner on this. There is huge leeway in how much time an official takes to set the ball because each down is different. The TV audience has a better view than the players on the field, and even the audience was confused by what the QB did. So I think the official judged that the ASU guy hanging onto the ball an extra 5 seconds (acting like possession was being disputed) was not a penalty and not an abnormal delay (if it was a normal situation). The Pac-12 acknowledged that the officials should have acted with more urgency, appeasing the critics, but if Wisconsin had no more time outs left, then they took a huge gamble that those last few seconds would go smoothly and without complication. It was the Wisconsin QB that caused the confusion, even to the TV audience. So while the officials did not perform as well as they should have, Wisconsin caused the situation (no timeouts and confusing QB action) and to me it looks like they took an unnecessary gamble and lost. My position is that it was a minor judgment mistake by the officials that just happened to have huge consequences for Wisconsin.
Wisconsin is outraged that the officials did not act with the same sense of urgency they had. So how do you think they are going to act the next time they have a similar situation? Are they going to expect perfection from the refs? Not likely. They are going to realize that things don't always go to plan in a tight time window, and they are going to kick the field goal from the hash.

The article says there are sanctions but doesn't list anything.
At the very least the crew will be downgraded. The ball was dead when the QB simulated taking a knee (he took a knee but even if he didn't, the ball is dead). The WH has to make sure everyone knows it's dead...he didn't. Then, he should have killed the clock so the U could spot the ball. He didn't
Poor mechanics by both the WH and U on the play.

I wouldn't go that far. But he's missed a FG and an XP so far this year.

you're worse then the ASU homers on their forums. The spin machine is in full gear there.

This is the only part in that wall of text that matters. It's absolutely laughable you would use the TV audience as a defense of the officials in the situation. It doesn't matter what they think. The ref was not confused by the action of the QB. He blew the play dead when his knee touched like he was supposed to.

How many times have we seen an official run to get the ball spotted near the end of a game ?? They are trained to use a sense of controlled urgency (i know officials in 3 different conferences) when getting the ball ready for play near the end.... These officials did none of this, and for some reason didnt even allow the ball to be snapped once they placed it down

But then again Pac 12 officials have a long history of being god awful this is nothing new to us out here.
It was a Pac12 crew that fricked up the ending on the Penn State/LSU Cap One game, not calling a delay of game. I wonder if it was the same crew?

I don't know about you but none of us thought anything shady had happened in the stadium...it was only when we got home and saw the replays on the TV...oh, wow...
OU fans were class, but also because they didn't know about the screw-job.
Same here. Had no idea and I don't even remember seeing highlights after. I flew home to AZ the next day with a bunch of OU fans on the plane and they weren't even saying anything about it.

Yeah, my one rational ASU friend was crazy pissed with the way the game was coached and the players played. Obviously you take the W though.
Graham has done a good job of getting the players to buy in from what I can tell and cleaned up the penalties/discipline issues that plagued the Erickson teams. Maybe that is masking fans from seeing his actual coaching ability but he's still kind of in that honeymoon phase 15 games in. I haven't been impressed with his recruiting so far as it seems heavy on JUCO guys which can work, but I don't know if it's viable long term.

If you're going to criticize my post at least make sense. I compared the confusion of the TV audience to the players (referring to the defensive players), who have a harder time seeing what's going on, and not the officials. Thus when the ASU player pounced on the ball and held it for a few seconds, the official did not deem that an egregious attempt to delay the game. Again the point of my post is that under a tight time frame Wisconsin relied on the efficient placement of the ball, which went wrong IMO because of a combination of the QB's confusing downing of the ball, and a minor mistake of the official over the ball, so I don't feel any sympathy for Wisconsin

Wisconsin got hosed bad.
Wisconsin also fricked themselves bad and were dragging more arse than Les Miles in the final 30 seconds.
Ref screwed up but The screw up was highlighted x10 because of Wiskys retarded kneel kinda ball spot spike whatever the frick they were doing.

Wisconsin fricked themselves, especially the QB. Blaming the officials is hilariously misguided.

Wasn't that hard to clean things up. Kid need some tough love...and they respond. Just about any coach could have come in and done that. What should be concerning the masses around here...and for some reason it's not. Is the lack of recruiting this group has done. They are getting killed in state as always. He is sending his recruiters to Texas to recruit which is dumb considering ASU has always recruited the hell out of California and done very well there. Don't get me started on the tons of JCs, that's a sign of a sick program that can't recruit. Like I said, he got a gift saturday night. Hopefully stanford, usc and notre dame will give him a shite sandwich in the coming weeks and this love fest can end.
I really don't know why I dislike him...he reminds me of a used car salesman and every time he speaks I feel like I need a shower.
Shrug. Maybe Texas will take him.
